Default Diablo Picantes

Does anyone have any experience with these sticks?

I received one from Shellie as an add on to the Oliva sampler I bought from her.

Had it last weekend. I don't think I've ever had anything like it before.

Even from early on it seemed like it was smoking hot, but it wasn't really burning my mouth and it never got bitter. It just seemed that it was very spicy with some other, sweeter tastes coming out a little.

Got to say that it was an enjoyable little smoke and I would like to try more.

Where can you buy these? Do they get better with some aging?

Any info would be appreciated.

They are very spicy great budget smoke as you can pick up b1g1f at Famous.
As far as I know this is the only place you can make a box purchase as they bought the rights (or something) to solely distribute them.

Just smelling them you can pick up the intense spice.

edit: here you go with link

makes em about a buck per stick

Definitely a good buy at the current 2 for 1. Quite tasty, not as strong as most Nic's but some nice subtle spice. I just picked up some of the lonsdales from the Monster, but have yet to burn one. I did have one in a blind tasting and it was quite good.

They are fantastic!!!

I had one about a year ago and really really enjoyed it.
They are very different then anything else and the only cigar that I swear made my touch feel like I had been eating pepper.

The combination of black pepper with an underlying sweetness is very interesting.

Saw Bobarian's review in a BTT and remembered that I received one of these in a PIF. Fished it out and fired it up today (it was the lonsdale size -- think that's a Pimiento).

I was suprised and pleased by the heft, the quality of the construction and the burn, and the flavor. Really nice aroma, too. Mine had some age on it, though I can't say how much because it came in a PIF. I didn't get much pepper at the beginning, probably because of the length and ring gauge, but the last 1/3 certainly delivered some cayenne and deep dark sweetness -- it reminded me of the flavor combination of dark chocolate with chili pepper. A very good quality smoke for sure.

I think I'll look into a purchase myself, probably a five pack through CigarAuctioneer because of my current funding situation, and I think that I may go with a robusto to see if a little more filler and a little less wrapper kicks it a up bit.

I got on in a trade with Smokin5 and really enjoyed it. I have read some negative things but that sure was not my experience.

Cool. I'm going to wait for now. I don't think I need that many, and I have to take a break from buying stuff right now.

I thought these were out of production. Perhaps I'm thinking of another stick.

They ARE out of production, I think for a year or more now.
General Cigars made them & did a poor job of marketing, as it tried to push this as a strong smoke. They're a good medium in strength. But, as others have said, they're quite tasty & burn well. The Picantes are one of my favorite lunchtime smokes - lasts just about 45-55 minutes at my pace. Famous Smokes bought up all of the remaining stock, so they're the only game in town if you want some. Fortunately, Famous has been running quite a few "Buy 1 Get 1 deals on the boxes. I think I've got about 70 of these left. At $1/stick, it's a great deal.

I wonder how many they have left.
I have really been wanting to stock up on these since they were put on buy one get one but just havent had the extra coin.

I hope they still have plenty as i would really like to put 3 or 4 boxes back.

So what you are saying is that I do have to buy them right now.

hmmm...
