Default Sonofa...

I just need to vent...

So I'm heading up to Duluth with some buddies for a weekend away, and I needed to grab a bag to pack my stuff in from the top of the storage rack in the garage. I get the one I need and put the others back up where they were. I go back inside and just after I take off my shoes...CRASH! I had a bad feeling about it. I go back out to the garage and check out what it was. The other bags I put back up on the rack had fallen, and broke off my passenger side mirror. Gawd dammit! I feel like an arsehole now.

Anyone have an idea how much it costs to replace a side mirror on a Saturn Aura?

Hows the stuff in the bag Mike? Any damage there?

Mirrors, mirrors, all the mirror horror stories i remember, replacement costs were around 4 Opus Sharks, give or take an Anejo or two.

eBay is your friend. I've replaced 2 mirrors (one on the girlfriends car, the other on my dads truck), and neither one was over $50 for an aftermarket part. Those were not painted though, just black.

I love Duluth. Got a bunch of buddies there I visit regularly. If you're into music, see what's going on at Clyde iron works in west Duluth, pizza Luce, or maybe something in the fitger's complex. I seem to end up at one of those places.

Find a junk yard and pull one off yourself. Is it black or is it painted?

I think most GM ones go for about $140. Junk yard would probably be cheaper if it is not painted to match the body color.

Does it look like this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MANUA...Q5fAccessories

Or call a junkyard.

As far as what it costs? If you were closer, I'd just change it for you. Shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes. should just be 3 bolts and a wiring harness. Either the plastic cover on the interior side pops off, or you have to remove the whole interior panel. Each vehicle is a little different.

Replaced on on a truck with an ebay one. Cheap mirror, slight distortion. It was damn annoying. If you can find oem on ebay or similar, do that.

Is a passenger side mirror mandatory in your state? If not you have the luxury of shopping around or going the DIY route.

Duct tape in place, but who knows how long it will hold.

The bags that hit it were empty. Sucks when younger to keep your car nice and something dumb like that f's it up.

Still...dammit.
