Moved from DishNetwork to ATT UVerse...anybody else do this?
I've been happy with DishNetwork for the 4 years I've had it, their DVR system is an absolute breeze to use and works wonderfully. You setup a show to record, say record all or new, and if you say record new and it conflicts with another show, it searches out a rerun and records that one instead. Easy interface, great DVR software, overall good system. The only problem is it's expensive!
UVerse recently became available in our neighborhood, and we wanted to take advantage of their crazy fast internet (we only had 3mb DSL before). Well, if you package their TV, internet, and a phone line (or cell phone) together you get a nice little chunk off your monthly bill. Getting their U200 TV package and 18mb internet together, we're paying about $20 a month less than JUST our DishNetwork bill, that's not even considering the $30ish a month for the DSL line. Anyway, long story longer, from what I can tell the UVerse DVR sucks. It's awful. Easy to use interface, but it's a b*tch to setup a show to record. If there's any conflict when you say record a new show (which isn't "new" it's called "first-run") it just doesn't record. If you set it up to record "first-run" AND "rerun" showings, it records ALL episodes, regardless of when they originally aired. Anyway, my question is has anybody else moved from a great DVR system like DishNetwork and were disappointed with ATT's DVR? Am I missing how to set up a show to record properly? I consider myself a tech-savvy guy (I work in IT for goodness sake ) but as much as I've looked through the system and settings I can't find a good way to setup series to record. Any thoughts, tips, or suggestions you guys have would be appreciated |
