Default Anything like padron anniversary

I love the 64's and 26's padron anniversary both maduro and nat but they are a little hard on the wallet. I was wondering if anyone can suggest a cigar that is similar in taste that woln't break the bank.

Padrons are like Cubans, its either you have a Cuban or you don't..Padrons are their own thing.

+1

I have two Altadis "Reverse-engineered Padron 1926 Alternates" that were passed out at a herf, somehow I don't think they will be quite the same.

I'll disagree just for the fun of it.... for a touch more oomph, but every ounce of the espresso-coffee-dark chocolate goodness, look no further than EO 601 BP maduro, especially the robusto, and if you are careful can be found for roughly 4-5 a pop online.

Taste is subjective of course, but these to me come off like a slightly more potent 1926 maduro.... YMMV

As much as I would like to be objective.... I can't.

I have to fall in with the majority so far, & say Padron has it's own distinct flavor that is all it's own. Ecspecially the Anny's.

While I like the 601's and consider Eric Espinosa a friend (although I love beating the crap out of him in dominoes), I have yet to find a cigar that rivals a Padron Anni, specially the '26 line.

Bottom line, you can get margarine to imitate butter but at the end of the day, there is nothing like the flavor of butter, in spite of the effect on the heart.
Padron Annis are unique and well worth the money in my opinion. You pay a lot but you are smoking the best. They are the Rolls Royce of NC's.

Personally, the 64 maduros are worlds better than any 26 I've ever smoked. I generally try to keep a box of superiors in my humi. Last time I bought them they were about 200-220/box, so not breaking the bank at all as premium NCs go. I've heard people compare aged '000 series, but never tried them. IMO any Pepin blended, while still very good, are not at all the same. Only other NC I've had that I like as much are the Fuente Anejo, and they are as or more expensive.

Only thing I would suggest would be an aged base line or something from the X000 line.

Any rested and aged Padrons are very, very good. I've also had a few 2 and 3000's that were 5+ years old and they were the chit!

Guess what I am still sitting on that I may just break out this weekend because of this thread?
I have a Fumas that the wrapper is so dark yellow that it begs to be smoked.
If one considers how long it has been since they disappeared from the market...............................this thing is old.
I think his day is near.

I would give anything to have more than one left.
They are so, so good for a regular cheap cigar often just found on outdoor shelves in Cuban coffee shops in Miami.
Those were the days.
