Re: Corrections Officer
I work in a County Jail so I am around the CO's all the time. The training varies depending on who you are going to work for. State Corrections is a lot more difficult job than County Corrections mainly because of the prison population differences.

Jon, thought you were enjoying that job...
Is the economy affecting your stores? I'm sorry to hear that you want to move! Not that I get to see you often, but I'll miss you and your pink shirt! Charlie

Re: Corrections Officer
I work as a civilian in a county jail, not a CO, but I've seen enough and heard enough to know that training and conditions (and the salary) vary widely depending on the governing authority. The County COs here in Vegas go through the same academy as patrol officers, and have better pay, better training, better security than the state prison guys. I'm not sure if this holds true everywhere though.

Re: Corrections Officer
I just resigned from FL DOC due to injuries received while on deployment. we COs went through the same training as POs, we have 40 hr re-train every year. being a CO requires thick skin as you take a lot of crap and can't serve it back
good luck with your search
