Default Home Theaters - let's see 'em

Took me a couple years of building components and about as long at trying to convince the wife we need an upgrade. We went from a 42" Panasonic EDTV plasma to my new jewel, the 58" Panasonic TC-P58V10 plasma. I'm happy as a clam at high tide!!!

The complete setup sits in the corner of our living room. We sit 11-14 feet away. I have the room rigged with 5.1 sound. I also have a 15w 6500K bias light behind the set to limit eye-strain when watching in complete darkness. It's by far not tops in the home theater world, but it drops my jaw all the time.

Let's see some pictures, Inmates!
  • Panasonic TC-P58V10
  • Panasonic DMP-BD35
  • Dish Network VIP622
  • Nintendo Wii
  • Onkyo TX-SR505
  • Polk Audio TSi CS10 center channel
  • Bose Interaudio 4000XL main speakers
  • KLH 2-way surround speakers
  • Polk Audio PSW10 subwoofer
  • TechCraft Sorento Series Stand 60"

My pictures don't do this TV justice!!! It's outstanding to watch!!!

I have one and all I know is I have recessed 10 inch Sonance speakers in my ceilings throughout my first floor. a 46" Sony Bravia XBR mounted on the Wall. Everything runs through a Yamaha something or other and the center speaker is wall mounted but I forget the model (Mirage I think). Polk audio Subwoofer, Wii and PS3 as well.

I don't have a decent enough sound system to put up pics, but I do have your exact TV and blu ray player (bought them both together). Did you happen to buy yours through Crutchfield? I am not going to spend the money on a nice system until I am on my own, so I picked up a cheap yamaha receiver and speakers because I need something. I effing love my tv though.

Got mine from Best Buy with a 10% off coupon. Took it 10 weeks to come in, as it was back-ordered forever.

I, too, love this TV. For the price, the PQ and size can't be beat. I just partial to plasmas...sorry all you LCD/LED folks.

Couldn't agree with you more. I don't think I will ever be interested in LCD but I am curious to see what the LED tvs are like in a few years. Nothing can beat a plasma for blacks and blues....and I don't even think greens. My tv looks 10x better than anyone else's tv for baseball, golf, and hockey. To me, there isn't a noticeable difference when watching football though(depending on jerseys).

It didn't come with any speakers. I assembled my collection over the years. I bought it in October 2005.

PS3, Wii, components, etc.

The projector is ceiling mounted and everything runs through my receiver. Also very handy for hooking up a laptop to watch streaming or downloaded content.
Nice! I bet it's a sweet setup!

I dont have any pics yet but my buddy and I did a theatre setup at my Mom's house in the basement.

104" screen
Sony 720p projector
Yamaha Reciever
Definitive Technology 5.1 setup (powered subwoofers in both fronts and the center) they sound amazing
3 oversized reclining theatre chairs and a bunch of love sacks on the ground in front

I might be going over there tonight so I will try to take some pics if I remember.

If anyone has any questions about AV stuff feel free to ask, I have been into this stuff since middle school or earlier and my buddy knows almost everything there is to know about projectors and TVs

I have a bunch of cobbled together crap that works pretty well. I will try to post pics and get models and such later. I spent a lot of time at AVS forums learning and picking brains about 4 years ago when I was finishing my basement. Without an absolute "dedicated" room, I did pretty well. I throw a 109" image in a dark room.

Pete, I've lived on AVS forums for the past couple of years. I've read more than I'm willing to admit. Good stuff there!

No recent pics, but this is what I lounge in front of on a daily basis.

42" 768p Samsung PDP
Sony 60GB PS3
Xbox 360
Nintendo Wii
Sony BDP-S350
Toshiba HD-A2
Onkyo HT-rc160
Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 speakers & sub. (Small but sufficient since I live in an apartment. Clarity is unbeaten for their size and price)

How does a college student afford all this? I had a well paying internship 2 years ago when I lived with my folks ... not paying rent and making bank does wonders for your home theater stuff

Recently upgraded my Onkyo SR-505 for the HT-rc160.
