Re: Michael Jordan threatened with fine for smokin
Who cares what kind of cigar! The anti-smoking Nazi's are driving people into our cigar sversion of Opium Dens. This is effing ridiculous. To not be able to smoke a cigar, outside, during a golf game is beyond comprehension. Next thing you know they will find a way to inject dye into our bodies and make it illegal to fart in public! Or to sweat in public because it offends someone, I realize some people think I am going off the deep-end here, but WTF!
There's more, but the SFPD is probably already looking for me, so I will shut up and fume in the corner! //end rant

Re: Michael Jordan threatened with fine for smokin
Completely ridiculous, if you ask me. I can partially understand it if there is an issue with people littering the courses with cigar and cigarette butts. But I rarely see courses littered with cigar butts. It is fresh, open air, and I know many golfers who smoke (cigarettes and cigars). California is going off the deep end with their laws and regulations. I am so sick of our government trying to enact laws to protect us from ourselves. It's beyond getting ridiculous. If I had the money, I'd go out there and play, making sure that I was smoking a cigar on every hole of the course, along with an entire day's worth of golfers. After, I'd just make sure that I or anyone else I know never plays that course again. F'in arseholes!

Re: Michael Jordan threatened with fine for smokin
I find it amazing that there are no groups organized to get the law changed. I think that some national groups will focus here, but local, grassroots support seems to be thin at best.
If it were me and I was at a public venue that was designated (as I understand the course is) as non-smoking, I'd not smoke because I happen to be one for following the law even if I disagree. Still, can you think of any better way for SF to get out the message to as many people as possible as to what the rules are than to fine MJ? It is gonna be hard for any golfers to say "I didn't know" after this and avoid the fine. Some celebs think that they are above the law. Hope MJ isn't one of them.

+1!
Doesn't matter about the value - it's the point of it to begin with! Jordan today.... YOU tomorrow!

don't mean to thread jack, but I thought it was relevant
http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar...22,1667,00.htm it's an interview with Michael Jordan with Cigar Aficionado back in '05... "MRS: What are your favorite cigars today? JORDAN: Partagas Lusitanias. I love those. And I'm in love with all Cubans. I've become a big Cuban cigar smoker. I gradually worked my way up from Las Vegas rum-dipped to all the different types." |

See above linked article - after he was informed it was non-smoking, he just chewed on a cigar instead of lighting it. |

He should just buy the damned course and fire the jackass that told him he couldn't smoke.
