Default a smoke for my son

I hadn't smoked a cigar since I was about 22 years old. Fast forward 8 years, I met a girl, bought a house, got engaged and then, we're pregnant! On September 17th 2007, my life would be changed forever in more ways than one.

The day before, I got to attend the Giants vs Packers game and there was a whole bunch of people smoking cigars and even offering me one. I told them that I'd rather smoke a cigarette, it takes 5 minutes and I didn't have to worry about tasting it 3 days later. They chuckled as I sucked down a pack of Marlboro Reds while they relaxingly puffed away on their "shitsticks" which is what my ignorant mind referred to them as at the time.

The next morning, my wife and I had a scheduled C-section and at 11 20 am my son, Scott Jr. was born. He was awesome.

I had, in the meantime, bought two boxes of Montecristo "Count of Monte Cristo" boxes from JR from their Library Collection to pass out to people without the knowlege of the quality or appeal of these cigars, I was after all a cigarette smoker.

My son was born and shortly after, he was in the nursery and my wife was in recovery and I could not see her so my father, brother and I snuck out into the garden area of the hospital to smoke these cigars, after all, I had 40 of them. Over the next day or two, I passed out all but 4 of these sticks and kept the rest in a box with a wet paper towel as a humidification device.

One night after being gifted a bottle of Glenlivet 21 year Archive single malt, I had a ***** of a day in the office. My house had burned down 4 months before so we were renting a townhouse with a balcony. The wife and new baby fell asleep so I lit up a Monte and poured a scotch. That cigar took me to a place I never was and never wanted to leave.

I hit the slope faster than a Chris Brown right hand to Rhianna's forehead and I was done. Within months I had a hundred count humi and multiple sticks .

In Sept 08, I made my first CC purchase and in that purchase was a box of Sept, 07 Partagas Mille Fleur. I decided I would smoke one for his first birthday and one every subsequent birthday. When he turns 18, should he decide that he wants to enjoy cigars, I will smoke the rest with him except for one. That one will be gifted to him when his son is born.

Last night, we had a party for him and it was too late to go smoke so tonight, I lit up my second Mille Fleur. It was great. Mille Fleur stands for "Thousand Flowers" I think and I know why. It had great cedary and floral notes and with retrohaling, the flavors were intense and plentiful delivering a medium body and smooth lingering "twangy" finish. I loved this stick and wanted to share it with those who helped push me down this steep slope.

I even enclosed some pics of my Lil guy when he was born and last night while he was enjoying his b-day cake which he looked forward to all day. This cigar was a great way to remember the day that Scott Jr. entered this world and my life. I hope the future holds wonders for him and I hope that he knows how much his daddy loves him.

Thanks,

SW

You can never have too many cigars, they are like an investment in good times.
