Default Cigar Review: Cu-Avana Intenso

Cu-Avana Inteso
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo
Binder: Nicaraguan?
Filler: Nicaraguan, Panamanian
Made In: Nicaragua
Size: 6×54 Toro
Price: $20 per 5 pack, $69.95 per Box of 20

Initial Thoughts: This cigar represents a drastic departure from Cu-Avana Cigars, who are known for their mild bodied cigars. This cigar is dubbed as a powerhouse, full body and full flavor. This cigar is made by Nestor Plasencia in his Nicaraguan factory for Cu-Avana Cigars. The cigar sports a nice dark brown, almost reddish wrapper, with a nice looking foot band. I hate when cigars don’t live up to their potential so let’s see if this cigar is as full and strong as it says it is.

Flavors: Initial flavors are a nice sweet charred oak flavor with a decent amount of spice and some notes of coffee. The second third is much of the same but a dark fruity flavor is added that reminds me of Port Wine. On the final third the flavors really picked up in richness and intensity. Not much complexity with this cigar but nice solid flavors.

Smoking Characteristics: The draw okay, a little snug for my liking but does the trick. The burn is completely erratic and requires multiple touch-ups. The ash is a nice white color but flakes everywhere and makes a huge mess. The body is defiantly full and yes, this is a strong cigar. Usually the nicotine doesn’t affect me but this cigar gave me a nice buzz; shaking hands, and a full belly.

Final Thoughts: Despite the shitty burn, this cigar is a winner in my book. The flavors are right up my alley and the cigar is truly a fantastic value. This cigar is defiantly not complex but for under $4 a stick, I’m not going to *****. The cigar did live up to its reputation of being full and strong and defiantly is not for the meek.

Worth a Try: Yes, full bodied cigar smokers will like it
Buy Again: Yes. For the price, I could handle a box of these
Enjoyablility: Medium-High
Similar Cigars: The La Flor Dominicana Ligero and the Cain but with a lot less complexity.

Thanks for the review. I like these also, nice full bodied smoke. I didn't have the burn issues on the couple I've smoked so far.

After giving out a few I still have 3 left, just resting a while. I have not tried them yet though. You have me craving now.

Thanks for the review. I've been thinking of grabbing a 5er of these. BTW, in your Final Thoughts, I think you meant definitely, not defiantly.

I really enjoy these as well. I think I'm pretty immune to the nicotine, so it doesn't hot me so hard. These are definately full flavored. They remind me of The Edge with a more deep flavor rather than a sharp flavor.
