Casa Fuente Corono
Shilala traded me a Casa Fuente Corono. I had the exact same cigar top shelf not willing to smoke it until now as its replacement had arrived This cigar is rumored to be an Opus X (or Anejo for matter) binder/filler with a Cameroon wrapper. The cigar like all high end AF is very well made. For me, the dominant flavor in the first third was sweet cedar, I did not pick up much cammie flavor. However, as the cigar went into the last two thirds, that spicy cinamony flavor started coming through and it was strong and sugary. Just like the Anejo and Opus are very different, so is the casa Fuente. This is a tough one to rate. If I was given this cigar and asked what I thought of it and how much I would pay for it, I would say 95 and $10-13 (the same price as an Opus #4 or similar price to Anejo Robusto). The problem is at $20+ for this stick, I would have a tough time telling you to not instead buy an opus #4 and a Anejo robusto for the same price (or at least close to it) or a couple of AF Don Carlos for that cammie flavor. This is a terrific cigar. The sweetness and strong cinnamon flavor of the smoke is amazing with no pepper at all. It is sweater spice then both the Anejo and Opus and full of flavor and the burn was razor sharp. I look forward to smoking my second but a trip to vegas will not result in me buying any at this price. If price is not an issue though and you enjoy cammie cigars, this could be one of the best.

Re: Casa Fuente Corono
Nice Review.
I hear good things about Casa Fuente. Would love to get out to Vegas someday, to pick some up. |
