One of those great cigar times...
As many of you know, based on my occupation and screen name here on CA, I'm a cigar lover and a huge football fan. I've lived in Cincinnati all my life and right after I graduated college years back, the first thing I bought was Cincinnati Bengals season tickets. Recently I got on Twitter for pure business reasons. I heard there was a huge group of cigar smokers on there, all chatting and talking back and forth about their latest cigar, upcoming events, and new brands that are coming out.
A few weeks back I read that Chad Ocho Cinco (previously Chad Johnson, lol) had created a Twitter account. I checked it out, and found it it was legit so I started following him. Turns out, despite the way Chad is portrayed in the media (part of which he brings upon himself), he's a really down to earth guy. He's updating his page, answering every fans questions, talking about playing PS3, and even playing guys in Madden online on PS3 that challenged him on Twitter. So what does this all have to do with anything besides a rant thus far? Well, a few days ago, I randomly sent Chad a message asking if he smokes cigars much. Surprisingly, I got a response in a few minutes saying he does indeed enjoy cigars. He said he really enjoy's Nicaraguan stuff, Padron being one of his favorites. I mention to Chad that I work with a cigar company and I'd love to get a few Oliva's into his hand. A little more banter back and forth and we get to today. I send a message over to Chad saying hit me up when you get back from Miami and I'll send some cigars over to you at the stadium. A few minutes later I get a message from Ocho Cinco saying if I'm free, he'll be over on the patio at a restaurant about 15 minutes from my house having a cigar and to stop by. Sure enough, I headed over there and the rest is history. I pulled up and he was sitting on the patio by himself enjoying a Padron 80th. I walked up, introduced myself, handed him a few cigars and chatted a bit. I wasn't planning on sticking around, but he said he was going to be there for a bit so if I wanted to hang out and have a smoke to go ahead and light up. I hung out there, talked video games, the new UFC game, some cigars, a little football, just shooting the ****. Just another way that the leaf brings people from all walks of life together to ultimately enjoy one common thing, the enjoyment of a cigar. |

Sounds like a most excellent time Ian. Glad that you got him some of the best cigars on earth.

Being in the UK I don't know who the guy is but obviously you were happy to meet him and it's clear it was quite a cool moment in your life. Amazing how stogies and the passions for them bring folks together.
Cool story... |

Re: One of those great cigar times...
Honestly, I didn't take any pictures. I brought my camera but we ended up just hanging out and chatting and it was really low key. There was no one else on the patio and I didn't want to act like some crazed fan running inside looking for someone to take a picture of us. If we do it again sometime I'll take one then, just didn't seem appropriate at the time.
