We were Soldiers once (Memorial Day)
As Memorial Day approaches I ask all those who served and all who didn’t to think.
Let us not be pained, let not be broken, let us not hide ourselves away. Let us cry tears of joy and tears of Honor for those who did not return. Let us know in our hearts that they are the hero’s who look down upon us from Valhalla And they smile upon us. We remember them, We raise a glass to them …And they remember us. Those who have “Been There” know of what I speak, …Those who have not do their best to understand and deserve our respect and thanks for “Being there” for us. Let us not cry out of sadness and anger, Let us cry with joy , Fly our flag and raise our glass and say, I am Honored to have been in your presence. I have friends and comrades in arms from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, South America, Malaysia, Lebanon … the countless little “Actions” …Iraq , Afghanistan …. I have lost friends, I have made friends … To those who went before me, To those who went with me, To those who now go in my place … I salute you … I honor you, I raise a glass to you... If Icry for you they are tears of joy … For you are my Hero’s To those of you who supported, and still support ..I say THANK YOU! … On Monday I shall fly my American Flag, My Marine Corps Flag and my POW / MIA Flag with pride. I will unsheathe My USMC SNCO sword from it’s scabbard, Stand in my yard and salute all who went before me, All Whom I lost and all whom I pray for. And I will cry, But Let us not cry of sadness, let us all cry of Honor, And let us cry of Joy,and of Remembrance ... But not of sadness, For Valhalla is a place of Honor. Semper Fi All! Stitch USMC 1975-1984

Prayers and thanks to all who have sacrificed before this time, all who are currently, and those who will in the future to protect freedom, individuality, and the American experiment from all of our enemies, both domestic and abroad. Re: We were Soldiers once (Memorial Day)
Very nice thread Jeff.
Please remember: My dad, Capt. Harris Clark - US Air Force WWII Bomber Pilot - Served With Honor and My friend, USMC Sgt. Kevin Coulman - Killed with 240 others by a coward while they slept in the 1983 Beirut Bombing. To all men and women that have served or are serving, thank you from a man who truly is thankful you do what you do. God Bless. |

A few days ago in a conversation elsewhere, I had my years of service ridiculed by some one, I was told we were no more than murdering psycopaths(sp) and that all of us were just "Tim McVeigh's(sp?) in waiting. I'm still pretty torked over this conversation, And it led me to write this.
