Default Any rock hounds in the asylum?

I just got back from a mediocre surf sesh at on of the local lagoons. Every year this particular lagoon breaches due to heavy rainfall. When that happens a perfect wave sets up for an indefinite amount of time and all the agates that have been covered up by months of swell begin to expose themselves. I didn't get a lot this time, I was shivering in the rain in my wetsuit, but here are a few beauties I did find. Anyone else hunt for rocks or crystals? BTW, sorry about the shat camera.

Just recently went to Carbondale, PA and pulled out a whole bunch of fern fossils. Waiting for it to warm up a bit before we go back.

Yeah, there are a bunch of fossils an hour or so North of me near the Oregon border. There is also an ancient petrified forest that only exposes itself on severe minus tides at Pt. St. George...along with really smoky agates.

teotides,
I lived in Crescent City as a kid and went to point St. George a lot. I don't remember the
petrified wood though. Was more interested in girls then.
I live in northern Nevada now. Lots of rockhounding here.
Do you do any lapidary?

Nah, no lapidary. Just a little hobby on the side, looking for rocks that is. The petrified forest was found a few years back by a HSU student doing research on his thesis. Several years ago I lived in a town called Quincy in the Plumas Nat. forest and there were dormant volcanoes and crystal mines to explore. That started my interest in rocks and minerals.
I'm glad you escaped Crescent sh#tty!
