| _ | Going to 60% beads

I have noticed most of my sticks even with 65% beads seem to be a bit too wet for me still. I was thinking about dry boxing, but then I would have to do a little planning ahead for what I wanted to smoke. Plus I would have to remember not to leave them out for too long if I don't get a chance to smoke them. Since I heard they also have 60% beads I was thinking about using those in my desktop humidor. Is anyone running the 60% beads? Any cons to going this route?

I run a Set and Forget at 63%, and think my sticks smoke perfect right out of the humidor. If 65% is too wet for you, try out the 60% for a time and see if that improves your cigars for you.

i recently tried 60 and actually hated it. ran in to burn problems and a few of my 'go to' cigars seemed to burn a little too hot, with lessened flavor. back at 65 and loving it now. |

I have not gone to this but I was thinking of..... 65% in the coolers and 60% in the 300 humidor. I currently only smoke out of the humidor or travel case. About once a month I pull from coolers to put some in humi. Seems like the addition of sticks at 65% would keep it at around 63% for a while.... what do you all think?

This is a very common misconception as to how beads work. You cannot put equal amounts of 60% beads and 65% beads an obtain 62.5% RH. The 60% will absorb humidity until they are saturated and then the 65% beads will "regulate" to 65%.

I keep my sticks at 65% and have been pretty satisfied, but I smoked some of Joeys (ir13) stuff that he keeps in the high 50% and they smoked beautifuly... you have to take more time with it so that it doesnt get hot on you, but it burned razor sharp and had great flavor.
