Default Magic: The Gathering

Did anyone ever play Magic the Gathering?

My best pal from school and I were talking about it last night. We spent hours and thousands of dollars over the years playing and buying cards.

He was telling me the rules have changed so much, you can't even attack unless your "General" comes into play. A monster you designate before the game starts.

So, where the Magic nerds at?

I played the first year it came out! I had a nice box with Alphas and Betas. I also had all of the Antiquities and Arabian Nights expansion cards as well as plenty of rares like Mox's and what not. There were even several unopened booster packs of Antiquities in my collection. They were all stolen though.

I use to play Magic back in the day. Started playing with some friends in 94, I think Legends were out or just came out. Still got a lot of my old cards.

Lol, and you said D&D made you lose hope in finding women!

I too played Magic, from about 7th grade through Freshman year of highschool, then gave it up.

I played Magic from Beta to 5th Edition.

I had a full set of the infamous "Power 9" as well as all kinds of other rare stuff. Arabian Nights was cool art wise, but their were not too many great cards. I liked Juzam Djinn though.

Had the Power Seven. I was missing a mox pearl and a lotus. Had a Juzam Djinn and pretty much a lot of the crazy cards. I sold off a few cards to my younger cousin years ago and bought a Lovan audio rack for my home theater. I still got boxes filled with cards somewhere.

About once a year when some of my old friends and I get together we will have some beers and play a game or two for sh!ts and giggles.

I still remember when I started and had no idea what a mox was. I saw some for sale at $15 and said I wasn't paying that much for a land. Of course I did pay a bit more for them later

A Mox was an Artifact.

I remember when revised came out and I opened a revised booster pack and got 2 Vesuvan Dopplegangers in one pack. Someone ****ed up on that one.

Yeah but a land did the same thing.
Like I said I just started and that card made no sense to me at the time.

I played for about 3 years every friday night at the Local card shop.
I started at the end of third edition and spent alot of money.
Every once in a while we get together and play may be a new starter deck or premaid.
The new rules are crazy we try to go only by what we remember.
I still love to play

I remember Magic, I played back in like 92 to 93 I think. I got into it enough to spend more money than I would have liked but didn't get into it for the long haul.

My buddy Jon works at a comic book/game store now and they sell Magic along with alot of other things and I see guys there around my age dropping big money on cards all the time.

I am surprised it is still even going.

I play here and there with some old friends and only type 1.

I'm sure it's pretty crazy and all kinds of new rules now.

I played Magic, from 1997-2002 or so I think. I believe that 4th edition was the main one when I started. Wish I was around for revised, Alpha, Beta cards.

Man, a Black Lotus would buy a lot of cigars now of days... Reminds me, I have a unopened box of the "Alliance" expansion still. Wonder if it is worth anything.

I've been dragged kick and screaming into this by a certain mod and professor. Some weekends are consumed watching them play for many hours, eat, drink and of course enjoy many good cigars.
