Default Esencia Robusto LTD 2008

The Esencia Brand is one I have wanted to try since they were introduced some years ago.
It is a Nicaraguan Puro tied to the Palio line of cigar cutters.
First the boring but important stuff...
1)you can see the pics and make your own call on appearance and ash.
2)it didn't feel heavy in the hand but was adequate,it appeared well filled.
3)draw is excellent.
4)smoke volume and combustion are both great.
the good stuff...

It has velvety smooth smoke delivering a medium to full body, which is a must for me.
The tobacco is obviously aged, being very easy to nose smoke. This is essential to truly taste a cigar imo.
To describe the taste, let's just say if I were smoking it blind and except for the size;I would say it tastes like a Cuban Montecristo.A #4 comes to mind.
A very rich and well refined flavor.
The box hunt is now on

Thank you OpusEx for the chance to try these

Thanks for the review Dave. Sounds like a nice cigar, especially if you got a Monte flavor profile

Thanks, nice review.

High praise from everyone. I'll have to go on the hunt, I don't think any of my local places carry these.

Cheers,
G

Great review. I love these. The petit corona I think displays the flavors best in this linup. I can not speak for all of them because of the limited run sizes. The elusive lancero is what I am dying to try. Fullers pullers has some great prices on these and I think he is still throwing in a Palio with box order. Thanks for the review

I just smoked mine yesterday. I have to agree with Dave's assessment. Very very smooth. Usually, I am only able to snork a small amount of smoke from a cigar unless there is lots of age to it. With the Esencia I was able to pass nearly every last puff of smoke through the sinuses. Delicious! I also agree with the Monte comparison, although, the Esencia reminds me more of the Monte #2 with less of the milk chocolate hints I get from the Monte #2.

The bottom line is that this is an excellent smoke and I will be looking into more of these in the near future when funds become available. Thank you to OpusEx @ Palio for the opportunity to try the Esencia.

I smoked one of the Corona Gorda's that they sent me in the contest and was impressed. A really well balanced tasty smoke! I gotta buy some more soon.
