Getting old, getting cold
Man, I am so getting old. For years, I've been kept the thermostat at 68* during the day and 60* overnight during the winter. The last couple of years, even 70* seems cold to me. Right now I have it set to 72. Since I work from home, you can guess what this does to my heating bill.
So, what temp do you keep the house at when you are home during the winter? Am I the only total wimp in the crowd?

Re: Getting old, getting cold
Winter it's set between 65-68, since I work nights I set it to 60, makes for good sleeping. Summer it's kept at 75 all the time, which is a little warm, but any lower and I get raped by the electric company.

70 during the day (when we are home) and 65 otherwise.
When we are not home we will let the house get down to 55. During the summer I have the A/C set to bring the house down to 65 at night as I like it to be cool when I sleep.

Re: Getting old, getting cold
I keep the house about 67 or 68* during the winter, maybe a couple degrees colder at bedtime.

Re: Getting old, getting cold
Good God, I'd freeze at those temps. I told myself when I got out of college, as long as I had a job, I was going to live comfortably!! And I have been for 20 years. It stays 73-74 in the summer and 71-72 in the winter. If I get cold, I'll bump it up, or vice versa. Our thermostat at work is whacked and I'm either freezing or too damned hot. Home is my castle and my refuge - it's going to be what I think is comfortable. 72-73 is a fine temperature year round.

Re: Getting old, getting cold
73* in the winter. Each year it goes up another degree, so it may be 74* this year.
68* in the summer. I work in a forge shop where the ambient temp is usually over 100* near the office, so I'm gonna chill at home.

Re: Getting old, getting cold
Summer time 76-78, Winter - down to about 71 this year, as the little one gets old enough to cover up in a couple years we will be back down to the 68 range.

Re: Getting old, getting cold
68*-70* all year for me, I hate paying the electric bill but I refuse to let that make me uncomfortable!
I have my air setup so it directs more cool air upstairs so it's more like 65* upstairs where I sleep and 68*-70* downstairs where the t-stat is.

Re: Getting old, getting cold
74 all year long. That gets too cold for me in the summer, so I usually bump it up to around 76. On sunny days in the winter I'll move the thermostat to 72 so the heat doesn't come on, otherwise it gets so hot my tongue hangs out.

Re: Getting old, getting cold
In the summer we keep the AC at 78, in the winter I think we do 70 during the day and 65 at night. Last night it got down to freezing for the first time this year and we had the windows open. It was a bit chilly when I got up this morning, to put it mildly. I think it might be about time to set the thermostat for the winter.
