Just trying to keep up

Perdomo Lot 23 Toro
This is one that I really enjoy but never think to keep enough in my humidor. Too busy trying all the new stuff that I read so much about here on CA. Beautiful reddish brown with nice smooth slightly oily wrapper. It was firm with just enough give, no soft spots and very small veins. Pre-light aroma was sweet and earthy with a hint of cedar. I prefer to light the foot completely and allow it to start on its own for about a minute with a small purge before my first draw. The first inch started with a rich taste of earth and a nice spicy finish. The draw was firm but not eye-popping. The spice faded to a full earthy taste with a sweet cedar finish to the end of the first third. The second third, the draw opened up perfectly for my taste. Lots of cedar and earth. I was enjoying this tonight with a Widmer Brothers Oktoberfest ale that had a nice orange note with a clean finish that I think was complementing the Perdomo quite well. Oh yeah the ash. Nice silvery gray that fell off on its own in solid 1 inch chunks. In the last third the cedar was still going strong with a little more spice. I had a hard time to setting this one down. Finally did with about an inch left. Total burn time about 1 hr 45 min. There was never the slightest bit of bitterness and the draw remained cool till the end. This was a smooth medium bodied smoke. I definitely have to remember to keep more of these around. Thanks for reading.

I've been wanting to try one of these, this was the maduro? Sounds good and going on the "to try" list near the top.

Re: Perdomo Lot 23 Toro
Nice review. I had a few of these a couple months back and was pleasantly surprised. I have to resist the urge to dismiss cigars out of hand based on that I think I know about them. I can't tell you how many cigars in my humidor fit that description.

Re: Perdomo Lot 23 Toro
Monday evening I stopped by the local B&M & picked up a couple of these with some microbrews for a friend & me. This is a very nice smoke. Smooth all the way to the end. A wonderful flavor profile that stayed clean to the end.
