Rock/Metal Singers With Great Voices
I was flipping through the channels last night and stumbled upon Iron Maiden in concert. Not only did it bring back many many memories of my youth, but it reminded me of what an amazing voice Bruce has. So I got to thinking about frontmen who could bring it. I couldn't think of too many, but I would certainly include Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio.
There are tons of singers who are average. Ozzy was my man when I was growing up, but he was an entertainer, not much of a singer. Who are some others who could really bring the vocals ?

First that comes to mind is Roger Daltrey (The Who).
Just watch the opening of any CSI episode. Teenage Wasteland in particular.

Partied with Ian and a stripper on the porch of an English pub. Didn't know who he was until 20 minutes or so. True story.

One of the best concerts I ever saw was Maiden's Brave New World tour. Queensryche opened, then Halford, then the Irons. Three of the best voices in metal right there.

Mike Tramp was in White Lion. Can't remember the singer's name from Steelheart, but he was good. I was 16-17 and saw them twice...one night held the guitarist's beer while he signed stuff by the bus.

Nick Lowe
Dave Edmunds Brian Setzer The Boss SRV Marshall Crenshaw Lowell George Mark Knopfler Ian Anderson and so many more... Edit to add... I recognize very few of the artists being listed. Just as some of the artists I like, some of you have never heard of. Last edited by 68TriShield; 01-08-2010 at 05:11 PM. Reason: to add... |
