I like to try new and different mixed drinks. Anyone have some recipes to share?

I don't know of anything special, but I thought this might be a great topic. Even variations of the usual will work. Margaritas, Long Islands, etc.

My two favs:

Caipirinha
1 lime
2 ounces of Cachaça
2 ounces of dark rum
Sugar to taste
Ice cubes

Wash the lime and roll it on the board to loosen the juices. Cut the lime into pieces and place them in a glass. Sprinkle with the sugar and crush the pieces (pulp side up) with a pestle. Just enough to release the juice, otherwise it'll get bitter. Add the cachaça and stir to mix.

Orange Crush (my fav)
3 ounces orange juice
3 ounces sprite
2 ounces GOOD vodka

Hang an orage wedge on the rim and you're good to go

I've been drinking more and more Manhattans lately.

Ingredients:
3oz Bourbon
.5oz Extra Dry Vermouth
2 splashes Angostura bitters

Fill shaker half-full with ice and add ingredients. Shake, strain into an old-fashioned or martini glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry. Delicious!

I mostly stick to the drinks with the ingredients in the name
Goose and Cranberry
Crown and Cola

Dirty Scurvy Pirate - made by my roommates in college, not as terrible as it may sound

Best when used in a party setting because of the measuremnts

750 mL - Parrot Bay Rum
1 can - Limeade concentrate
750 mL - Decent Vodka or Rum (could choose your favorite flavor)
2L - Sprite
1/2 G - Orange Juice
Skittles to taste

OK it was kind of a joke when we made it, but it tasted damn good at the time.

Vodka martini:

Frozen vodka (prefereably not in a plastic bottle)
Vermouth
Lemon

Open vermouth. Close vermouth.
Pour vodka in martini glass.
Garnish with lemon peel.
Serve

A good summer drink (called a Club Special where I play golf): fill a tall glass with ice, pour vodka to taste (i.e. a bunch), add the juice of one lime and one lemon, then fill up glass with equal quantities of Sprite and club soda.

Yeah, I used to think I was a martini fan, but then I realized the less vermouth I had in it the better I liked it. Now I skip the vermouth completely. And use freezer-chilled gin. YUM! Of course this is no longer a martini.

Never had it with dry vermouth, usually the sweet. Might have to give it a try sometime.

Never a "couple" of olives. The rule of olives in a martini is only odd numbers. "one or three, never two"

Glad to see you use vermouth -- A martini with no vermouth is just a GLASS OF GIN!

Manhattan:

2 oz Whiskey
1/4 oz sweet Vermouth
3 drops of bitters
Two maraschino cherries
3 Ice cubes

Most important part is the whiskey. Nothing too earthy or full. My favourite for a Manhattan is Forty Creek. Traditionally made with strictly Rye Whiskey, I have found Crown Royal, or Jameson Irish Whiskey both keep things very tasty at a good price.

Samurai Jack

Rasberries
Mint
Simple Syrup or Honey Simple Syrup
Jack Daniels
Soda Water

Muddle Rasberries, Mint and simple syrup in tall glass. Fill with crushed ice. Add 2 oz JD and top off with soda water. This is a great summer picnic drink, I just like to make pitchers of it. If it is made well even people that don't like whiskey will enjoy this drink.

ice

good quality ice

not that cheap dime store ice

glass

mix the two carefully. if you are not careful, you'll know it immediately.

introduce Makers Mark into the carefully blended ice/glass mix

once again, you'll know it if you do not accomplish this carefully

the last part is optional: drink said mixture

It's almost time to pull out the...

Eggnog + Brandy

I used to drink it with rum. I will never go back, Brandy is so much better.
