Default Need help connecting 360 to internet

Can't get my 360 to connect to the internet. I have AT&T uverse and have plugged the 360 directly into the router. The only thing plugged into the router is the cable and the 360. My computer is on the wireless. Any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, the 360 needs to be either hooked directly into the modem/router throuth an ethernet cable, or be hooked up wirelessly with the wireless adapther (around $100), my personal opinion is that you tend to get more lag with wireless hookup with gaming, so it is often better to have a direct hookup.

Just spin around in one complete circle before plugging in.

I am not familar with AT&T Uverse, however make sure your modem is plugged in and running fine. Run a cat-5 from your modem to your router then a cat-5 from your xbox to your router. Go into setting on the xbox and run the connection test and it should guide you through everything. You may need to open up some ports too, do a Google search for Xbox Live ports.

I don't have the 360 but the PS3 and the Wii are both connected into Uverse. There should not be anything special with Uverse that would make it any different.

Does the 360 have a connection light when the cable is plugged in and transmitting?

If possible you might have to drag the computer down to the router just to make sure that it is transmitting on those 4 ports in the middle.

Did you plug the ps3 directly into the 2wire?

When I plug the 360 into the ports the light doesn't come on. Tried the computer and the lights come on...

I have done both wired and wireless (current) with the PS3.

That would deffinately send me to the problem on the 360. A bad port or look at the system settings to see if there is a way to turn on/off the internet connection.

Can the 360 use the usb wireless that you are using with the computer?

On the computer do you use a USB adapter to connect wirelessly to the 2 wire?

If so you might be able to use that on the 360 (if the 360 will allow 3rd party adapters).

If the laptop will connect to the gateway with a cord then I would say it's either the 360 port or a setting that is turned off.

Best of luck. I have to head out.

u can look up using lap top as wireless adapter on YouTube and that will work very well wirelessly. It's easy and you don't have to buy msfts stupid 100 adapter. Hardwire should work just by pluggin it in router to xbox no probs.
