Mark Twain's Gravesite: Cigars
I suppose this ties in somewhat to another thread where we were discussing what kind of cigars MarkTwain liked to smoke, as far as quality of cigars.
I came across this picture of Twain's grave in Elmira, NY and was touched by the scene portrayed there. Apparently, visitors, some of whom must be cigar smokers, if not aficionados, leave cigars for Twain, next to his headstone. The article seemed to hint that this was a common occurrence. (Unknown parties leaving cigars on his grave) Do we have anyone from NY that knows the rest of the story on this? Maybe you've left him a cigar? What kind? Does anyone recognize what these two left by the stone are? |

My uncle use to drink a case a beer a day (never got drunk).
After he died, someone has been leaving a full can of beer at his gravesite for the past 12 years. To this day we dont know who it is!

I left a cigar at U.S. Grant's birthplace once. Nothing fancy though, if he wants something higher end he can hunt it up himself...

Elmira is 2 hours from where I lived in NY. In my 24 years living in NY I never knew Twain was buried in Elmira. I guess you learn something new every day.
