Price Gouging
Does Fuente care if authorized dealers gouge his products? Just curious since so many do it...I was just quoted by a website that 800+ for a box of 32 Petit Lanceros is retail HAH.....I told him my bm sells them for 12-13 he said thats how much they went for in the 90s...yeah right, I hate gougers!!How can you make a living off of someone elses misfortune?

Re: Price Gouging
No such thing as price gouging. No one is forcing you to buy the product. You determine that it is not a price you are willing to pay and move on.

Re: Price Gouging
Well actually certain products...mainly Tatuaje, Illusione, and Padron are price protected...meaning if they catch you raising or even lowering prices you can lose your account....I'm not so sure if Fuente does it or not

Re: Price Gouging
Price protection only applies to vendors who are authorized dealers. In Fuente's case they have not added an OpusX vendor in several years. A shop may be a Fuente dealer and still have to buy OpusX on the secondary market. In this case price protection rules do not apply.

Re: Price Gouging
Fuente used to price protect with their authorized sellers. Much of the market in the Opus and Anejo lines is grey market and Fuente can't do anything about that.

Re: Price Gouging
Maybe your B&M is buying them grey market and paying too much wholesale?
Cigars are a tough business these days in USA for many B&M's.

Re: Price Gouging
In the case of the Opus... I think a lot (all) of the online dealers buy their stock from the authorized B&Ms, and then sell them online... which then leads into bobarian's comment
