Check for some sites from France or Switzerland. Don't forget you'll need the correct spoons and spigot to make it correct.

The whole Absinthe thing is pure marketing at this point. It's just another shitty tasting high proof alcohol. It will not make you high, see green fairies, or anything else, just drunk.

I drank absinthe in Spain. I think I'll just drink molten licorice.

But I'd like to try it again; good stuff this time. The Spanish stuff I bought at a grocery store. I'll look for some place in France or something, that has the "hallucinogen" ingredient. I don't expect to see things though.

@mosesbotbol
Could you explain the proper procedure? You drip water over a sugar cube? I thought there was more to it.

I never hallucinated off this stuff but it does effect your perception a little. I remeber drinking this with some friends while watching Richard Pryor stand up and we could see tracers from Pryor constanly moving back and forth, his face looked funny. I like to think this stuff makes you a philosopher and you do not get grougy and tired like you do after alcohol. Never tried it with a cigar but I bet its good.

1. Fill Absinthe spigot with Ice and wait 10 minutes
2. Put shot of Absinthe in glass
3. Put sugar cube in slotted absinthe spoon and put on top of glass
4. Center sugar cube on spoon under the spigot
5. Turn spigot on so one or so drops at time comes out
6. Wait until Absinthe glass is full

Important that the water comes out real slow

Enjoy.

Here is a useful website I use to use.

http://www.wormwoodsociety.org/

I used to buy the stuff a couple years ago it is aweswome just haven't been able to afford it lately plus my credit card company charges like $60.00 for overseas transactions. Clandstine La blue is my favorite.

I beg to differ. In my experience, the real stuff gives you a bit different 'high' than does straight alcohol. No visual hallucination, just a mild but profound relaxant. Yes, there is a lot of hype. However, to say that there is no difference from any other liquor just does not jibe with my experience at all.

Exclamation Re: absinthe advice

Actually making a proper Absinthe is not easy without the spoon and spigot. If you do not have the spigot, fill a pitcher with ice and then pour the ice water from it through a very narrow funnel as slow as possible over a sloted spoon with a sugar cube into a rocks glass with a shot of Absinthe.

Here's a good picture of one with the proper glasses and spoons. If you have any shot of even liking Absinthe at all, it must be prepared properly (unless you're a licorice whore).
