Favorite On-Line News Source?
What is your preferred location on the internet for real news? I'm becoming increasingly disappointed in my current source; too much "Miley Cyrus this, and Paris Hilton that," and not enough real news. I want to know what is going on in the world, not the latest Hollywood gossip. I don't even particularly care what the "political slant" is, so long as there is good hard news.
Please don't let your comments degrade into "my news source is better than your news source" like we had a few days ago. We're better than that.

Agreed. If you think thnk it better, just kill it now. I don't want to be the source of any dischord.

To your point, I don't like any of the news sources. Too much fluff and tabloid $hit and the rest is biased one way or the other.

Re: Favorite On-Line News Source?
While every news source out there is biased and definitely has an agenda, I've enjoyed cnn.com for years as my daily source of keeping up with what's going on. The U.S. site has some world news, U.S. news, and yes, some of that annoying entertainment news, but what I like is the CNN International site. It has news stories from around the world that aren't normally posted on the main page. CNNMoney has good financial news as well.

Re: Favorite On-Line News Source?
Can't say I have a favorite on-line news source, but I do prefur on-line news to the TV news channels, just for the simple fact I can pick and chose which one I read. And there is only one local news paper where I live and I hate the way they report the news.

The one I read the most is WSB TV.com
It is the one of the local Atlanta stations, it has my local news and national news with very little political slant. They have a very easy to use mobile site as well. |

Google News. Compiles several sources and perspectives on each story. Let's you choose for yourself.

Re: Favorite On-Line News Source?
cnn.com has really gone downhill and reports all sorts of nonsense. I enjoy reading both www.nytimes.com and www.wsj.com . They seem to slant in opposite directions, so I feel I'm getting a more objective view on the world.

Re: Favorite On-Line News Source?
On TV, I find that BBC America reports almost 100% "this is stuff that is happening in the world" and almost 0% Hollywood gossip/sex scandals.

Digg.com
It used to be better for tech stuff, but now it's more 'general' stuff. I dislike any TV news. I generally read about anything important on the internet days to weeks before it shows up in a newspaper or on the evening news. |

Refdesk
It's not a news source itself although it carries a small "headline news" section. Refdesk is a reference page and has links to a couple hundred news sources among other things. Online news, magazines, TV news, american and international newspaper websites. Its an easy way to get multiple views on the news. And it's got links to thousands of other sites. Well worth a look IMO.
