Default Any adrenaline junkies?

Last weekend I decided to do something a little outside of normal for me - I went for a paragliding trip

My half hour flight (YOUTUBE VIDEO)

I'm scheduled to do sky diving on May 19th as well. Trying to get all my fixes in. Anyone else doing this kind of stuff? Something I should look into trying to get a good rush in?

Great view. Would like to try this out some time. I would say try paintballing and zip lining.

Ahhhh yeah - I did zip lining in Vegas a few years ago. That was a whole different experience in Bootleg Canyon. Going 70 miles an hour a half a mile above the desert between cliffs and bluffs? Hell right!

You'd never catch me jumping out of a fully operational airplane.

Hopefully in about 5 years, my adrenaline rush will be as a Lifeline helicopter RN and maybe being part of a transport team doing organ transplants.

Used to skydive quite a bit, but my last jump was over 10 years ago.

Going to my first kayak rolling class tonight...if I can get off of work in time. Hopefully by late May I'll be comfortable enough to run the Hiawassee (an easier river about 2 hours from me). Then come June or July I want to be able to hit the Ocoee.

I'd love to try skydiving! Will one day.

My passion in life has been mostly raceing MX. I've done so for the better part of two decades. Since my wife raced too it made things easer. Since my body has been feeling the effects of those races, surguries, broken bones etc. I've had to find another outlet for an adrenaline fix. Tried golf, and trap shooting but found car racing to be the only subsitute. I currently race a highly modifyed Porsche 944 in SCCA trials.

Oh yea in my youth I was a ski bumb for a couple winters, one in Jackson Hole, and another in Summit county CO. Also worked in the industry for 4 years where I skied every day at Big Sky MT.

I'd still love to give parasailing a try! Glad you had a great time!

I keep waiting for the desire to get back up there and do paragliding away...but it isn't going away >.<.

I'm gonna look into really doing the licensing and see about picking up some beginner gear. It isn't a cheap thing - but the investment is all right up front. Then it is practically free from there.

Also - I had a TON of fun at the kayak rolling class. It was tough and I'm sore - but it is definitely something I am going to keep doing. I managed to successfully roll by myself once - just need to have a couple of more nights of practice in a pool then I'll go hit up the Hiawassee with my brother

Excellent! Keep us posted. Kayaking looks like so much fun. While I was in the USAF I was stationed in Colorado Springs, I was a volunteer white water raft guide for our bases' MWR (Moral Welfare and Recreation) department and we would take weekly trips on the Arkansas River. Later I guided some trips for my then girlfriend now wife's scholarship group in collage at Montana St. in Bozeman. All that time on the river, I never tried kayaking. Would have loved to but most of my disposable income was going toward bikes, and at that time money was tight.

Have fun!

Ho lee chit.

THAT WATER IS FRIGGIN COLD. I've learned my lesson - no more rafting until at least late May. That stuff took my breath away when it first hit me!

It was still a ton of fun, though

I actually reserved my flight for May 19th a few days ago with a buddy of mine. I'm getting all of the crazy stuff behind me right from the start

So I picked up a kayak - successfully ran the Hiwassee twice now. Tons of fun.

I was watching a series called "bomb flow" - these guys who paddle HUGE white water. They posted a new video yesterday that I've gotta share. Freaking insane stuff. paddling off of 30-40 foot tall waterfalls...

High diving off cliffs and bridges for me, but my shoulders are getting too bad to do the really high stuff any more. I can still manage 50 feet or so. I think I can start leaving all that fun for the younger generations now. Like my Mom used to tell me as I was leaving for some dangerous trip..."Have fun and be careful!" Yeah, sure.
