Default Don Pepin Garcia my father lancero

I think by now everybody knows the story behind the ‘my father’ and that it’s blended by Jaime Garcia to honor his father Jose ‘Don Pepin” Garcia, so I won’t go into details about it. The ‘my father’ is made from Nicaraguan Habano seed tobacco with a nice Habano Rosado leaf from Ecuador. I smoked the lancero today, a 7 ½ inch long cigar with the ring of 38. This vitola is very elegant with the nice oily wrapper, the stylish band and to top it off the small pigtail. The wrapper is quite smooth and the construction feels great. The predraw is a bit on the tough side and gives me a dry peppery wood flavor

I taste a nice coffee flavor with a mild chocolate aftertaste, full flavored. After a few puffs I also taste some pepper and a few moments later some cedar shows up to replace the chocolate. But the chocolate comes back with some extra strength after about an inch. This mix of flavors minus the pepper and with some spices is the flavor I can taste for quite some time. The flavors are warm & cozy

The coffee disappears and the main flavor is spices with some wood and mild chocolate on the background. The chocolate keeps growing stronger and then fading away again, becoming the dominant flavor and then off to the background, becoming dominant, off to the background etc for a while. The flavors are well balanced, even though they are constantly changing the dominant flavor. At the end I get a fairly strong creamy nut flavor.

I get plenty of smoke from this cigar and the firm as is light colored, almost white. The draw started a little tight but got better on the way. No complaints about the burn. This cigar packs a lot of flavor.

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes!

Appearance: 8 / 10
Construction: 7 / 10
Draw: 6 / 10
Smoke & ash: 7 / 10
Burn: 8 / 10
Aroma (first part) 7 / 10
Aroma (middle part) 8 / 10
Aroma (last part) 8 / 10

Nice review! I like the MF lanceros the best. The bigger sizes just don't have the complexity of the lancero in my opinion.

See I think the robusto kills the lancero. The lancero doesn't give me what the robusto does. Lancero is my #2 tho in the My Father line. Great review I always like your pics.

This cigar is all its made out to be and more, I would even give it higher marks than Ferd did. I have smoked nearly a box of these and they are near the top of my list of great NC Smokes... I really really really can't say enough about how well refined, powerful, flavorful, and well constructed these cigars are. The consistency is almost un-matched.

I found the Oliva V Lanceros to be better than the My Father Lanceros I've smoked.

Nice review Ferdie, I prefer the lancero over any other size in this line... although the Le Bijiou is much better imo.
