Ever seen a Tatuaje with a patch like this?
I've smoked quite a few Tatuaje's over the years, but never seen one with such a big patch... Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a patch this big on any cigar. My jaw dropped when I noticed the size of this thing.
Anyone else ever seen a premium with a patch like this?

It almost looks like, from your picture, like it's a leaf discoloration.
Even without that, I have been told that the Tat Black wrappers are exceedingly rare sun grown criollo. It kind of makes the patch job more 'economically sensible'. Again, working on hearsay about the wrapper.

Re: Ever seen a Tatuaje with a patch like this?
This was most definitely a patch, but it was somewhere around the size of my pinky nail.
I've heard they're pretty rare wrappers too, so using one that needs a patch does make a lot of sense. I was just surprised ot see one that was so big. Speculation: also, this was one of the "Private Reserve" Robustos, so maybe they saved the perfect wrappers for the sticks going to retail, and use the less than perfect ones for these.

Yeh, I bought several boxes of the Tat black tubos, I think one or two had a cracked foot, the rest seemed fine.
I think I did see a patch or two through as that looks familiar. I think I have seen these from time to time, but not very often. |
