Default Cohiba Dominican

I've never tried the Cohiba Dominicans and the only ones I've tried from another location (real ones, I saw the box and the stamps were proper) weren't that impressive. Of course that was about 6 years ago...

Anyway, JR has a deal on "Cask Aged Cohiba Dominicans" and I was considering pulling the trigger.

I really like the original red dot... it is a very good cameroon cigar. However, for the price I can name probably 20 better cameroom cigars cheaper which are good or better. I have found all other DR cohibas to be, well, crappy. Not sure what cask aged means, but if they are the regular red dots in a wooden cask, then I would try the MC Afrique which is a similar cigar, much cheaper and just as good. FWIW, cigarmonstr had 5 red dot robustos yesterday for $20 which I think is a fair price for a cigar of this quality.

The JR Cask Aged are just a gimmick. They come in a barrel. Don't buy in to the hype.

Of course it's a gimmick. But the "deal" is 20 Cohiba Dominican's for 89.95. That's roughly $4.50 per stick (6.12" x 50rg). I thought that might be a good price.

I have smoked a few Red Dots, and found them more than decent, but Lu is right - for the price, you can find others at least as good for considerably less. They are not the only brands over-priced (take Playboy, f'instance), but they are decidedly amongst them. Just .

I always wanted to try the Dominican Cohibas, but the price scares me off. Personally it seems like they are charging a lot just for a name

I've always liked the Cohiba Red Dot- in fact purchased three Churchills to smoke with two friends at a pre-wedding soireé.(The father of the bride and her uncle.) They are expensive- I try to stock up when they come on sale or someone here wants to rid him/herself of some.

For Red Dot, under $5.00 is about as good as you'll get. If you are that curious, and have the cash, this might be your shot.

For me the red dots are good cigars with too high a price. C-Bid and Cigarmonster used to have them every once in a while, I would also recommend the pequenos, but they've gone up in price the last few years.

I pulled the trigger. I can always use the keg thing as a change holder.

I love them, and I buy them when I get them in bulk so they are $8/stick. What are some other cigars that you all smoke that are similar? I am asking because others mentioned good Cameroon style sticks for less money.

Thanks!

+1 on the great cigar but too high priced. I would get some at the lower price if I were buying.
