Question Do you ever relight a cigar after you put it out?

This is a three fold question regarding relighting a cigar; After you put out your cigar do you ever relight it? If yes, how long do you let it sit (or the longest time you will let it remain sitting) before relighting the cigar? If you do keep it for completion, where do you store the cigar until you go back to it?
For the record: As a general rule I do not relight my cigar, as sad as that might be, because it picks up an unusual taste which goes against the reason for smoking and enjoying the smoke in the first place.
If I ever do break my prior rule of relighting a cigar (hardly never) it cannot sit for more than ten minutes as a general rule. Longer than that I would say "what's the point?" It picks up the taste of the ash and the saliva on the end from your mouth, blah! It's just not worth it. Your thoughts...

For me, any stick that has gone out and left unattended for 15 minutes...it gets tossed, never relit. I'll pull another stick out to smoke. But that's just me.

Besides...if it was a good stick, I wouldn't have let it go out.

1) Never "put out" a cigar. Let it go out on its own. This applied
whether relighting or not.
2) Before relighting, knock off ash.
3) Toast as normal, but before you puff, blow through the cigar(purge).
this will burn off the tar and reduce bad taste.

I try to avoid relighting but have done up to an hour later.

I will relight if it gors out while smoking. But like Mac if its out for more than 15 minutes I toss it.

Also what Bob said is very good advice. You can also hold a flame over the end and purge once the flame goes blue you can relight.

This, though I usually finish what I start.

If you light a cigar after it goes out it is a nasty POS. I never relight. IMO, if you're letting your cigar go out, then you're doing it wrong.

"IMO, if you're letting your cigar go out, then you're doing it wrong." I was asking if you put the cigar out or allow the cigar go out, such as you have honey dos that you have to handle immediately such as take the groceries in from the car to the house or take out the trash sort of thing. Heaven forbid that you weren't paying enough attention to your cigar and allow the gar to go out while on your watch. Sheesh!

Oh BTW doing what wrong? LOL

if something interrupts my smoke ..I purge with a lighter and let it go out so it's still tasty an hour or two later.

Do you leave it in the ash tray or move it to a cool location (like in the house sorta thing cause I've never been able to restart a prior smoked cigar even after a short amount of time? IMHO, It just doesn't cut it for me!)

I rarely relight, I've done it a few times but never longer than 10-20 minutes. But I'm probably doing it wrong those times.

Almost ten years about as long as I have smoked cigars but I have never had to let one rest and go out while being tasked by the wife.

Ya. If I got the "Hey help me with groceries." I would just make a pit stop in between each load to take a puff. Generally when I smoke it is after I put kiddo to bed and usually around 8-9 in the evening.

As with most people I don't re lite unless it went out while smoking but I generally keep a close enough eye on it to keep it from going out. If it does go out while smoking I always blow through the cigar for 5-10 secs. Blow all the gases and everything out the front end and may even snip the foot to even everything out. After re lite if I just do not enjoy the cigar anymore I toss in the stinky and depending on time, I may go grab another.
