Still Watching My Back

Cigar mishaps and the like...
What's the worst "mishap" that's happened to you in your cigar 'career,' so to speak? The reason I ask is that I had a misadventure earlier and I'm curious to hear as to whether something similarly disastrous might have happened to any of you?
You know how it is when you are getting ready to fire one up, you already have it clipped, punched, etc. and then your significant other comes up with an emergency errand for you to run? So, as a dutiful husband does, I carefully laid my cigar on the edge of the desk and headed out to do the errand. Coming back with my hands full of sacks I walk in the door, heading for the kitchen with the sacks, when I feel myself stepping on something laying in the floor, as well as hearing a crunch. I'm guessing she walked by while I was gone and one inadvertent bump to my desk, and off it fell. Thank God it wasn't a really good one. It looks too far gone for duct tape. Woe is me. |

Re: Cigar mishaps and the like...
Did the same thing with a nice cigar that I had in my car years ago. I got out and the cigar fell out, but I didn't see it fall or even remember it was in the car. I felt my foot hit something long and soft, and the first thought I had was "Gah! A giant praying mantis!", and I stomped it dead as hard as I could with my foot. Yup, my cigar was dead, all right.

If I saw one, I would just watch it in awe. But when you unexpectedly step on something in bare feet, your feet work faster than your brain.
So let's just say it was a tarantula.

Not paying attention and leaving a cigar in a single baggie behind.
I bet it tasted good.

Lit the wrong end, put the ash end in my mouth, burn myself with the ash end, picked up someone elses cigar... I've done it all.

Re: Cigar mishaps and the like...
A couple of times, while driving I dropped my cigar when I went to set it in my ashtray. Major hassle trying to retrieve it while driving... I have done this only twice and both times with my friend's son in the car... Go figure.
Also, one time I cut the cigar, set it down to retrieve my lighter and then lit the wrong end... smoked really weird....

Re: Cigar mishaps and the like...
Went to the store and picked up a smoke and some beer, went out and set the cigar in the drip rail of the trunk while I made room for the beer. I finally had everything put away and closed the trunk or at least tried to....a couple of times.....doh !

Had a sad one happen today...
Had just fired up a Pepin Blue... guy driving the golf cart gunned it... I dropped the cigar... and the back tire ran over it on the cart path. Totally destroyed.

Exactly while I always insist on driving. I may drop my rider out of the cart stopping short, but I'll save the cigar.

Lit up a AF Shark that was MAW'd to me and it started to rain. I was so pissed that it got wet and I wasn't able to enjoy more than 15 minutes of it.

Ordering from Th*****n's. Now they know I'm an actual person. I don't even know how many trees they've killed sending me catalogues.

Re: Cigar mishaps and the like...
I've stepped on a couple of cigars. Usually while golfing or doing yard work. Dropped one in the car before too. Not fun. When I run errands with my cigar I often leave it on the running board of my Tahoe while I run in to the store/office/etc. Once I forgot it was there until I was 1/2 mile down the road. The cigar wasn't there anymore.
