Default 20th Anniversary Trip

On the 17th, Holly and I celebrated our 20th year of marriage. Friends we have known for years have a sweet cabin on a lake in North Carolina near Lake Lure, and the generously blessed us with the use of it to get away for a few days. We both needed it, and enjoyed it greatly. Each of us have been stressed lately both at work and woth various family matters, so it was a major blessing. During the time there, it helped us to remember that not only do we still love each other, but we still actually like each other (yes, there is a difference).

We were able to spend some time hiking in and around Linville Gorge Wilderness Area (one of our favorite places), get in a little fishing, a couple of fine adult beverages (as well as a couple of cigars and pipes), and basically just relax and enjoy our time together.

Relaxing

Paradise

As an anniversary present to me, Holly booked us for a morning with a guide on a wild trout small stream. It was challenging going down to a 4 wieght from my usual 9 wieght rod, but for wild non-hatchery fish it was orth it!

Holly with not only her first trout, but her first fly caught fish!

Wild baby trout; a good sign of a health wild stream! This little guy hit a size 22 nymph like he ment it!

Working hard for it

Holly's was bigger, but I'm ok with that

I did mention that it was a small, technical stream didn't I?

Word!

The last 20 years haven't always been the smoothest, but I wouldn't trade them for anything. And I am eagerly awaiting the next 20, and the next 20 after that!
