Have been smoking these since 1980. Now granted, I have not purchased a whole box in about 10'years, but I get 5er or a single once in a while of the Punch Rothschild in the maduro-maduro line. Usually sweet, tasty, and with a nice complexity. Now, I cannot speak for any of the other sizes, for I just haven't smoked them (I almost exclusively smoked Rothschild/Robusto sized cigars for 20 years). Peace of the Lord be with you.

Re: Punch Signature
Looks like nobody's tried these. I haven't, and have a hard time reconciling "Punch" and "Dominican" together in the same sentence. Sounds to my closed mind like decaf or O'Doul's . . . fine for you if that's what you like, but it's not my cuppa.

Re: Punch Signature
Enticed by + review by Tiny Tim in SC, so I ordered a box of torpedoes from Mike's in Bay Harbor FL.
My first Mike's Cigars order since 1996. They used to send free pairs of socks (!) with your orders. Good price, free shipping plus 50 cents for a Punch Signature ashtray. On a westbound brown truck...

Re: Punch Signature
I smoked the one I had last night. It was so strong I had to put it down halfway through. This one is not for the feint of heart. It was like jumping into a vat filled with black pepper. It had some nice aroma and with a little bit of coffee bean and leather, but mostly very spicy pepper and damp earth, no sweetness at all, and very harsh through the nose. Now I like a full bodied cigar, and I remember liking the Rothschilds years ago. They were strong, but very flavorful. This was completely overwhelming.
Although some may go for this kind of thing I can't say I enjoyed it, and it left me feeling distinctly queasy. I won't be buying another one. |
