wondering whats a good source for books in mp3 format, free if possible. not sure if limewire and those types are still aroudn. and if its mp3 format can you get a virus by downloading. i thought i heard a while back that you couldn't get a virus if its a mp3, but probably not true. just looked on amazon and friggin' e-books are $20+ each. like triple the softcover prices.
tia for any help. |

Project Gutenberg
Some of the stuff is good (spoken word versions). Some, not so much (computer generated voices "Reading" to you). All in all, it's FREE and it spans the depths of classical literature. Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but this site is what finally helped me get through Don Quixote. Also for anyone interested, you can download the text versions of thousands of books for free here (no copyright laws infringed).

Also...my local library has a free subscription to e-books via their website. So you could check that out too. I use to just download it and voila..

Librivox (http://librivox.org/) is pretty good, too. All stuff in the public domain.
-- Also, I'm sure no one here would do it, bu please don't post any links to where you can download material in violation of copyright laws.

Many public libraries now offer audiobooks online via Recorded Books, Overdrive, Netlibrary, etc... Very easy and very free if your local PL is doing this.

Don't forget any audio books on CD you already own it does not take much to turn them into recognized audiobooks!
I rip all my own cds so I can listen to them on my ipod |
