Smoking in your car?
I was curious how many people smoke cigars in the car? I have not smoked in my car yet, and I typically have two kids car seats in there and dont want them to smell like cigar smoke, but I will be taking a road trip with a few buddies soon and was contemplating lighting one up on the ride (about 2 hours) How hard is it to get them smell out after?

I smoke in my car and I have a car seat in. I never smoke when I have anybody in the care with me, and if its a long road trip you may want to take the seats out. I have smoked enough in my car now where the smell is in there for sure. I always crack a window but no matter what the smell stays, until I get it cleaned good.

Re: Smoking in your car?
Good luck getting the smell out if you have cloth seats. I smoked one cigar in my truck with the sunroof and windows open and it took a couple weeks for the smell to clear. My wife was none too happy, either. Haven't tried it in the car that has leather seats. That may not be as bad. My opinion - don't do it unless you don't mind the constent smell of cigar smoke in your vehicle.

Re: Smoking in your car?
yes I would definitly take out the kids seats, and I do have leather, but I am concerned about the smell being stuck in the headliner.
I guess it won't matter after we are on the road for 20 minutes, I''m sure I will be lighting one up |

Re: Smoking in your car?
I did it years ago and as has been said, man it lingered.
I actually drove about an hour and a half, about an hour of it with the cigar lit, and hanging out the window, shielded from wind by back of my hand. Would only pull it in car when dragging and yet stunk up for a while. Have never done it again. BTW, leather seats.

I was given a spray bottle of some kind of anti-odor stuff from a local B&M a long while ago. It may be worth checking with a local B&M to see what they recommend. Fabreeze ain't gonna cut it.

Was it "Ozium" by chance? I only smoke in my car a couple times a year and I've found that Ozium helps clear the smell pretty quickly along with a through vacuuming.

Re: Smoking in your car?
I smoke at least one cigar in my mobile smoking lounge a day usually on the way home from work. I keep febreeze in a spray bottle and spray the seats when I get home in the evening and the next morning when I get to work. I have only had a couple of complaints of it smelling like smoke.

Nope, much as I love cigars, not going to smoke 'em in my ride. Cost me too damn much to stink it up. And being retired, I don't do as much driving as I used to anyway, so it's not exactly a sacrifice for me.

I smoke in the car and my wife loves the smell. She'll often ask me what I'm gonna smoke when we drive around.

Re: Smoking in your car?
I've had maybe about 2 cigars (party shorts) in my car (leather seats) it takes about 2 or 3 days for me to not notice the smell anymore. I only had a cigar where I knew I could leave the sunroof and windows cracked open all day and at work I tend to leave the windows and sunroof cracked also so it gets a good chance to air out.

Re: Smoking in your car?
I smoke in both our cars, but not often. I find it better to smoke a cigar while being a passenger. I don't find that the smell lingers very long.

I smoke in my Jeep Wrangler everytime I head to work. Yeah it stinks like an old ashtray, but its a Jeep. She's no beauty contestant.

Re: Smoking in your car?
I only smoke in my cars when I'm in them. One is like MIB's Jeep. I don't much care. The other is my girlfriend's car - and she also smokes cigars (and cigarettes) in there. That one we vacuum once in a while. Leather seats in both helps immensely. We also smoke in rentals. Careful with the ash; vacuum regularly and a little Fabreze or Ozium will go a long ways.

Re: Smoking in your car?
I occasionally smoke in my car but only with a window open. when I get home I park it in the garage and open up the windows. 9 times out of 10 by the next day you cant even tell. My wife has never noticed and if she hasn't noticed then the car doesn't smell like cigars. Trust me I would hear it if it did.

Re: Smoking in your car?
I used to smoke in my MINI (convertible) all the time - but only with the top down. It was great having a cigar any time I wanted! I had it detailed before I sold it and they did not have any problems getting any residual smoke odor out. Don't know what they used, but I will ask.
I have occasionally smoked in my Highlander on road trips (hours of driving and many cigars). The car did stink a bit when I got home, but after vacuuming it and letting it air out for a week or so, it was fine. I am hoping to do another road trip this summer and since I don't have my MINI I will likely be smoking in the Highlander again. Looking forward to it One thing that really helps is to get rid of the ashes and especially the stogies right away. If the stogies do have to sit in your car for any length of time (more than a few minutes), try to contain them in something. I use a Bobken cup-holder cigar ashtray (http://bobken.com/cigarbobken.aspx) and that works really well.
