New to bread machine baking
I got a bread machine last month. I am having more fun with it than I expected. I have made white, wheat, raisin breads and a surprising good batch of home made bagels from a very simple recipe on the King Artur site. I even have a sourdough starter ready to go out. I am going to attempt some crusty dinner rolls to have with my beef stew tomorrow.
Right now I am experimenting with my own recipe for a cinnamon wheat raisin bread. I have done a couple of loaves with just bread flour for that came out good, I just up the cinnamon from a teaspoon to a tablespoon. I need to grind up sticks instead of using the ground though. I could also make it in dough mode, roll in a cinnamon sugar swirl and cook it in the oven. Anyone else using one of these? |

Bought one for my Dad for Christmas. It makes UNREAL yeast rolls. Which model do you have? I bought this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Oster-CKSTBRTW...ef=pd_sbs_k_14 There are a bunch of settings and at $60, it offers a lot of bang for the buck. I know the bagels I made were bagel shop quality and they were my first attempt. |

I have had the bread machine for about a month. It was cheaper than a cheap stand mixer and is more or less idiot proof. Everything I have made with it has been fantastic. |

Re: New to bread machine baking
I have very fond memories of waking up for school to the smell of fresh baked bread in the machine. It is still the best tasting bread I have had yet, hands down. Nothing like a sandwich with two thick sliced pieces.I remember my mom making a apricot bread that was awesome, I'll try to dig it out for yah. My mom raised three boys in their high school years and a husband in the construction trades on that bread machine, It paid for itself a thousand times over, not to mention It's now mine!

Re: New to bread machine baking
I miss my bread machine. I think the heating element gave out on it as the bread seemed to be not done. I used recipes I have used before and it still didn't turn out. Maybe time to get another one. Nothing better than fresh bread.

buddy of mine wasn't using his so he gave it to me because it had a setting for making pizza dough. I'm not a bread fan- the last time I bought a loaf was roughly 15 years ago. I tell you, even though it's a cheap machine, fresh bread is tough to beat. I eat the entire loaf the day I make it and would eat more if the machine made bigger batches.
