Just a heads-up, today's CigarBargains deal is a 15-count CigarCaddy (model 3540, though they mis-list it as a 3450). I haggled them to $10.14, which comes out to $15.19 with shipping. This is compared to $25 for the 15-count herf-a-dor at CI and $24 for the 3540 at Famous. I'll probably use it as my work humidor and replace my Sterilite tupperdor.
Any idea how many 50-54 gauge sticks this CigarCaddy will hold with the foam removed? Cigar Caddy 3540 - Negotiated to $10.14 + $5.05 SH |

That should be plenty for the office and a few more than my current tupperdor will hold. This week I tried replacing the tupperdor with a cheap 20 stick cherry veneer humidor that BnB Tobacco sent me for free (Christmas order was delayed by 2-weeks) but it won't hold above 58% humidity, even with 2-weeks of seasoning and a 75% Boveda pack.

Well, a 5-count is a single layer, so you're a bit more limited. A 15 is meant to be 3 layers with foam in between each... but if you remove the middle foam layers you can squeeze a few more in.
Turns out I can get around 18 52-56 gauges + a Bovida pack in mine... could easily go 20-25 without the Boveda pack under the bottom layer of foam, but this is medium-term storage in my desk at work so I do feel the need for some regulation. If it was just for travel 3-5 days at a time, I'd probably forgoe the Boveda pack in favor of more sticks. |
