Kansas City BBQ
Kansas city bbq is a wonderful thing. Really, bbq is a wonderful thing. But, come on, Kansas city is the bbq capitol of the world. I just wanted to make a thread showing my appreciation for one of the greatest foods on earth.

Re: Kansas City BBQ
Don't have great variety of experience with KC BBQ, but what I have tried (Jack Stack several times) was wonderful.
But I must admit, I love BBQ from many places.

Oklahoma Joes is really good too, but I dont get there as often due to proximity. I like ALL Barbecue, Carolina, Texas, Memphis, KC, you name it. Chicago is almost a BBQ wasteland compared to those cities... but Illinois does have 17th Street BBQ which I would put up against any in the country.

Re: Kansas City BBQ
They are all far away in Southern Illinois unfortunately - Marion, Murphysboro, and East St Louis... www.17thstreetbarbecue.com
Closer to home there is a place called Chucks in Burbank that is pretty good on an "on" night, but not too great on an off day... Worth a drive though - www.chuckscafe.com . Ever since Famous Daves closed in Palatine, there has been a barbecue drought around here...

Re: Kansas City BBQ
If you go to KC, hit up Oklahoma Joe's. Best BBQ there is. Oh man, now I'm craving a Z-man with fries.

Re: Kansas City BBQ
If anyone ever flies into KC they need to do themselves a favor and stop at the Hilton by the airport and grab a bite at Cafe Weatherby. Sounds strange I know, but it's ran by one of the best competition BBQ teams going right now, the Munchin' Hogs. It's bar none the hidden gem of KC BBQ.

Re: Kansas City BBQ
Yes, the original one is. They have two other locations now that are actual restaurants. Now I want some of their smoked chicken gumbo.

Re: Kansas City BBQ
Personally, like Arthur Bryant's, it's something to be experienced, but there's better Q to be found in KC. It's not to say that they're not good (although from my experience they both are wildly inconsistent in the quality of Q they serve) but neither one are my first choice when wanting to go out and get some Q. Jack Stack, Oklahoma Joe's, Smokin' Guns, Brobecks, and the aforementioned Cafe Weatherby to me offer the best Q in town. Woodyard BBQ is a neat place to visit, also.

Re: Kansas City BBQ
Very odd. I made this thread weeks ago but it only now just showed up?
In fact, I had all but forgotten about it. I was in bed by 12:01 last night, haha.
