Lighter recommendation
I need a recommendation for a pipe lighter. I have got one that I bought at the local B&M a while back but it's a piece of
crap. It is very difficult to get filled properly and I end up having to fill it once for every bowl I smoke... I can't imagine that is normal. I would like to get a different lighter and don't want to spend a lot of money. Anybody got any suggestions for a good lighter? I would like to stay as much under $40 as possible.

http://www.lightersdirect.com/Pipe_L...s___Pipes.611/ Not too many in that price range, but some worth looking at. I don't really know the quality of some of those in that price range.

Re: Lighter recommendation
When I was smoking a pipe this was my favorite. I believe it is called a Nimrod. The only drawback was that the fluid tended to evaporate and it needed to be filled fairly frequently.

Re: Lighter recommendation
Lotus Vertigo Briar. Just like an IM Corona but a fraction of the price. Can't go wrong with it.

Re: Lighter recommendation
I would recommend a zippo pipe lighter or if you already own a zippo just send it in with a note saying you would like a pipe insert. This is what I did with both of mine and it only cost $5.50 shipped to them to get em. Took about 2 weeks total.

Re: Lighter recommendation
So the Zippo pipe lighter work pretty good? I see that I can get them for $17 or so + shipping on Amazon.

Re: Lighter recommendation
That's the only one that I use now. I've tried a bunch of others and they always break or stop working. The zippo that I use is now going on 4+ years and still going strong.

Re: Lighter recommendation
They're great. Nice soft flame, stays where you want it - cuts down on rim char, easily refillable with cheap fluid, holds enough for several bowls, lifetime warranty. Now if it would only wash my car - then it would be perfect!

Re: Lighter recommendation
I have a xikar pipeline and it is the only lighter I use know for both pipe and cigars. I think I got mine for about 40bucks. Best part is the warranty. Well that and it seems to work ok at the higher altitudes.

Re: Lighter recommendation
I think you will enjoy the zippo pipe lighter. I haven't used anything else since getting them a few weeks ago.

Re: Lighter recommendation
Definitely this weekend, but only for a short visit. The wife is letting me pick out a pipe for Fathers Day. Probably be Saturday but couldn't honestly say yet. Being 30 miles away from the only B&M around sucks.

Re: Lighter recommendation
As you've bought a pipe Zippo (don't forget to buy the black can of lighter fluid as it's less smelly than the regular fluid), you might like to add a Thunderbird butane insert: http://www.walkerbriarworks.com/html..._lighters.html
Made in America with a lifetime warranty, angled and adjustable flame and you can see the fluid level (in the right light). I only use the Zippo insert now when I backpack over 8,000 feet or so where butane lighters don't work. Yjr T-bird insert has a more "precise" flame and does a better job, IMO. WyoBob |

Re: Lighter recommendation
I use my Zippo Pipe Lighter sometimes, like if I am in public, but most of the time I just use a regular ole bic lighter. Turn it upside down and sideways so you don't burn yourself and it works wonders for a dollar.
