Humidification beads: RH60, RH65 or RH70?
I have searched through a lot of posting for beads and and haven't found the answer for a question I have. Why have different RH Beads? Is the different RH in the beads determined by the RH of the area you live, or the preference of what you like your Cigars being stored at? I have a medium size humidor and need a larger one and am now thinking I would like to use beads instead of a active humidifier. The RH in my area"Victoria BC Canada" is relatively high, ranging from 60 to 80 plus, with weeks of highs in the 90's and lows in the 50's. Temperature ranges on an average between 12 and 20 degrees Celsius, with lows of 0 for a few weeks to highs of 28 for a few weeks. Does my RH and temperature dictate which beads to purchase or is it a personal preference.

Personal preference of how you enjoy your cigars.
I like/use 65% and would go to 60% if I had to. Personally, I find 70% too wet for my liking. YMMV Posted via Mobile Device |

I found that non cubans prefer higher rh (65-70%) while cubans smoke better in the low 60's.

I store everything at 62-63%, and the cigars draw, burn and taste the way I prefer.

65% for me
I believe there was a poll on this site awhile back and 65 was the general consensus |

Everything in the vino or cooler stay at 65-67. When they get moved to the desk top they are at 62-64.
That's how I like them. You just gotta play with it and see what you like.

What Peter said, plus I like my stuff best around 60%, both nc and cc.
Anywhere between 58% and 65% and I'm perfectly okay with it. Over 65% is too wet for my liking, 70% is out of the question for lots of reasons. If I wanted to mess with two different humidors for nc's and cc's, I agree with Dan completely. 60% for cc and 65% for nc's.

I keep mine at around 65 give or take one degree. Right smack in the middle for both my CC & NC....

Thanks guys, it looks like the censes is RH65. I do have a some burning issues at 70%, so I think I'll take your suggestions under serious consideration.

I had the same big burn issues when I was storing at 70%. going down to 60%-65% made the world of difference as other have said. You woulnt be disappointed.
