Anyone use Bowflex SelectTech's?
Im looking to possibly pick up a set of adjustable weight dumbbells for starting the P90x program. Found a set of the Bowflex ST 552's on CL for $300, supposedly brand new but no stand. Anyone have these or something similar? Looking for personal accounts on how well these type of setups work and if they're worth the money.

Re: Anyone use Bowflex SelectTech's?
A friend had them a while back and I used them once to mess around with. Seem to be good, my only concern would be if the weights fall off after the locking mechanism starts to wear away. I read some reviews online and a lot of the older model had a plastic tab that broke after a while but the newer models replaced the plastic tabs with metal tabs. That apparently fixed the problem.

Re: Anyone use Bowflex SelectTech's?
Bob, I'm not sure about that particular set, but adjustable dumbbells would be a handy tool in P90X. There are a variety of exercises on Shoulders/Arms and Back/Bicep days that will cycle through a series of different weights. It's a pain having to manually adjust my dumbbells, especially when the interval between exercise sets is so short, like when doing strip sets. I would definitely recommend adjustables. You may do better than $300 for a set, though Not sure why Bowflex is so $$$.
Depending on the lowest starting weight of that dumbbell, you may also want to pick up some lighter, single weights. You won't want to go too heavy on certain shoulder & triceps exercises (like Arm Circles) so make sure you can get to 3, 5, 10, 12 & 15 pound weights as well. Good luck!

Re: Anyone use Bowflex SelectTech's?
Thanks Gerard. The 552's go from 5 to 52.5 with increments of 2.5 lbs up to 25lbs, then 5lbs increments after that (which doesn't explain how you can get to 52.5).
I've been looking at a few different sets, Bowflex, PowerBlock, etc. They're all around $300+.
