Mi Barrio Acare
Don Pepin created the Mi Barrio as a limited seasonal release in cooperation with United Tobacco and EO Brands, famous for their 601 cigars. Every quarter 1200 boxes, with artwork from Cuban artist Edin Guitierrez, will be released in four different sizes. I smoked the 6x50 Acare, made from aged tobacco from Esteli and Japala wrapped in a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper.
The band on this cigar is art by Erin Guitierrez. The wrapper is dark and has lots of veins, but it is also shiny and oily. The construction is good and the predraw is fine. I taste coffee and some time later also some herbs, full but smooth and mild sweet. The herbs are getting stronger just like the sweetness while the coffee disappears. After a third I taste wood and some sweetness. Halfway the flavors change to herbs and wood. Near the end I also get a herbal freshness, almost mint like. This cigar lasted me and hour and a half. I got a decent amount of medium thick smoke. The draw is good, but I had to correct the burn a few times. The dark ash is firm. I would say that this cigar is full flavored and medium bodied. Would I buy this cigar again? I might, this is a nice cigar. Appearance: 7 / 10 Construction: 7 / 10 Draw: 8 / 10 Burn: 6 / 10 Smoke & ash: 7 / 10 Aroma first part: 7 / 10 Aroma second part: 7 / 10 Aroma third part: 7 / 10
