I received the Cigar Stub as a Christmas gift from my wife.
I didn't ask for it, and when I received it I wasn't at all impressed. When I found out how much she spent on it ($49.99) I was even less enthused. I placed it next to my smoking chair and that's where it sat for the next 6 weeks. The first cigar I used it on was a Party Charlotte, and afterwards I didn't hate it as much. Then a Secretos Maduro and I liked it a bit more. The more I used it the more I liked it. ![]() When Closed the Cigar Stub stands about 3 inches tall and has the thickness of a 54 RG Cigar, making easy to tuck into your pocket or stash away in your caddy. Though small in stature, the Cigar Stub has considerable heft for it size. ![]() To open the Stub you need to gently pull up on the cap. Though the rest of the Cigar Stub is weighty this is not the case with the cap. I find it cheap and flimsy, and think it is thinner than most Aluminum tubo's. The arm that holds your cigar is now able to fold out. ![]() Once unfolded you are able to access the slide control for the grips that will hold your cigar. The slide control moves freely and effortlessly, though without feeling loose. The two claws that hold your cigar are ridged to better hold your cigar in place. ![]() Once your cigar is clamped in, it really doesn't go anywhere. The Cigar Stub rests nicely in your hand and I find it very easy to smoke with. You do have to be aware that the clamps may get a bit hot if you smoke too fast. I haven't burnt my lips yet but I have made them uncomfortable. ![]() In the end I really like this accessory, however I still think it is overpriced. When nubbing a stick at work, I don't get the same cross eyed looks I got when using a toothpick or corn holder. I feel this works better than both those options. My main complaint is with the cap. I would prefer if it were as well made as the rest of the tool, and also think I would prefer if it screwed on. If this one were to break would I buy another? I think I would, I wouldn't be happy about the price but I think this is one tool I would like to have in my arsenal.

![]() ![]() The gripper got hot and I think it would have been more comfortable if the device opened all the way (instead of having that 60dg bend.) But overall, I thought it was a cool tool. Thanks for the chance to use it, Dom, and nice review! ![]()

great review,
price seem slightly prohibitive, especially with a shortcut taken on the cap, regardless I like the design and can see the advantage of this over a toothpick or corn on the cob skewer/thing |

Does any one know where I might be able to get one of these.
Web site thecigarstub.com goes straight to Go Daddy. Google Map as a picture of a Shell gas station. Amazon.com had a distributor "Abernook" that's now out of business. Any and all help would be nice. |

I've had one of these bad boys for 2 - 3 years now, and I really like it.
Try turning the cigar around so it comes out of the clip pointing the same direction as the body of the device; works and feels better that way. Construction is from machined aluminium, and while the cap is very light weight, I believe it's made from a high strength aluminium alloy; it doesn’t seem "cheap" to me at all. $50 does seem a little pricey, but I look at the added enjoyment I now get from all my not-so-cheap cigars! Just my 2 cents worth. Cheers! EDIT: There's some info on the company that makes them at http://www.manta.com/c/mtbz4f4/the-cigar-stub-co Last edited by JoeCool87TC; 08-24-2014 at 07:49 PM.
