GL Pease Jackknife Plug
I placed an order for 4 tins of Jackknife Plug last week and it came this afternoon, and of course I had to open a tin and check this stuff out.
It smells fantastic. I can't wait to slice some of this up and try it. |

Re: GL Pease Jackknife Plug
I am smoking my first bowl of this in my 999 spigot. There was a smaller 1/2 inch square in my tin along with the main plug that I cut up with a razor blade for this bowl.
My first impression of this tobacco is that Hal O' the Wynd and Union Square had a bipolar love child. It starts out very bright, but then you taste the dark earthy flavors, and then every puff is a subtle mix of the two except once every couple puffs you get a really spicy flavor and then it changes again. I am glad that I was able to snag multiple tins because I am going to be smoking a lot of Jackknife. Greg, I don't know how you did this, but you have a winner. Well done sir. |

Re: GL Pease Jackknife Plug
You'll have to check around SmokingPipes, MarsCigars, and PipesAndCigars have all had it in stock and sold out quickly, Greg says that this will not be the norm and that there is plenty for all the vendors but it's just an issue of getting the supply lines filled up initially.

Re: GL Pease Jackknife Plug
Tried this for the first time today. Drugstore brands, H&H marble cake and a couple of their VaPer blends did not prepare me for this.
The first shock was the tin fragrance. If you've ever had a cup of lapsang souchong this will take you back to that experience. Jackknife is a much more full flavored blend than I've had before and took some getting used to. Mostly it was a heavy earthy taste but I would occasionally get a puff of surprising sweetness. Almost like a good BBQ rub with just enough brown sugar. The taste developed and changed a great deal as the bowl burned down and by the time it finished my opinion had changed from "this thing is too much for me" to "I need to try this again". No pipe tobacco in my limited experience has kept my attention so easily. Not a gardening tobacco but a sit down and pay attention tobacco.
