Default First cigar experiences

Last night, a friend of mine went with me to the cigar club. I was lucky to light up a delicious Rafael Gonzalez (thanks Dan!), and gave my friend a My Father Le Bijou Petit Robusto (his first cigar). We are sitting there smoking, and he's just getting used to drawing the smoke (instead of when he first inhaled it and started coughing and gagging). He told me that he was starting to get a bit of a buzz, and I suggested that maybe his first time he not smoke it down to a nub. "No no I'll be fine." Needless to say on the drive back he looked a little green and wasn't saying much. Immediately when he stepped out of my car: followed by . Thinking he was done, he said "Wow I shouldn't have eaten so mu..."

What were your first experiences with cigars? I know I was pretty green. I barely was able to hold off puking as well.

Yeah I wish the first time I had smoked a cigar someone told me not to inhale. I didnt throw up but got one heck of a buzz and almost swore myself of them. Good thing I didnt!

Yes, and a sugary drink would have helped him too. I didn't really plan ahead for that. He just regretted how much he ate after throwing up soooo much.

Amen! Mtn. Dew, candy bar, sugar cube, they all help keep stomach contents in the stomach.

My first none machine made was a Punch Rothschild when I was 18. I made it about half way through before I was kneeling in the grass dry heaving. Those rothchilds will always have a special place in my heart.

Man the Double Maduros were sure tasty. I used to get em in 50s and smoke the carp out of em.
As a first cigar, I can imagine that would be a lil rough.

It's been well documented that I'm an Opus whore. I smoke at least one a day. Last New Years Eve 2010, I smoked an A as my last cigar of the night, 3 Opus before that and my 6th cigar in total that day. I never puked, but let's just say I was more than happy to get home, lay in bed and fall asleep!

I smoked an El Rico Habano that induced cold sweats weak knees and uncontrollable shaking of my hands as soon as I stood up out of a chair.

My first Cigar was on top of the Peabody in Memphis after loading up on Rendevous Ribs. Surprisingly not so much as twinge of green.

I had a knock nicotine punch from a Behike 54. Other than that all good experiences.

It was my own stupid fault, even though there's no way in hell it should have had THAT much nicotine in the last 2 inches, I felt it getting strong but due to the price of the stick I had to finish it. Even though it was gifted, either way I hugged the toilet a champion and not a loser.

Story from my local B&M. A kid (college student about 18/19) went into the shop one day and picked out a Camacho Triple Maduro. He was warned that this was only for experienced smokers but he said he could handle it. I believe he was trying to be macho with a group of friends.

Now I wasn't there at the time but from what I have been told, he smoked the 6x60 cigar about 1/2 way down in about 45 minutes. He stood up and ran towards the door. He did not make it. Needless to say, he was cleaning his puke off the shop floor and windows.

My first cigar was at an Indian casino. It was a Kahlua vanilla crap stick. I didn't get sick but I under stood the concept of how to smoke (cigarettes=snorkle, cigars=straw). One of the guys I was with smoke an Acid without understanding this concept, puking took place for him

My first cigar was a montecristo tubo. It was NC, of course... nothing exciting to say from it.

A more interesting story was my first full bodied smoke. I mustered up some guts and got a La Flor Dominicana DL-700 maddy for my first cigar that wasn't mild or medium. Bad mistake... especially on an empty stomach. I smoked the entire thing sitting down, with a can of coke... and as soon as I stood up I felt light-headed and slightly nauseous... I also learned that day how to puke without getting any on myself. My seersucker suit was saved for another party later that day

A, seersucker suits are just wrong...B, There is no limit to the cigars that can cause this reaction.
I smoked a Hoyo Double Corona once and nearly choked out on the ol reverse lunch. That's not considered
a tough smoke. But it's mostly about how much you hold the cigar in your mouth and how much you salivate and
swallow while smoking.

I didn't puke from my first cigar. But then again i've never inhaled one either. Only time I puked was when I had an Oliva V at 10 am in the morning with no breakfast.
