whats the most reliable lighter?
I am in the market for a new lighter. I like torches and I want something reliable and somewhat windproof. I am sick of unreliable lighters such as calabri and another one I bought at a gun show. I was going to check xikar's product because they have a reputation for quality. Is this true or are they unreliable also?

Xikar's are nice, great customer service. Look into blazer torches or load up Ronson lights, mine work everytime and you can pick em for about 4 bucks at Walmart.

Be sure to use a quality fuel like 5x refined Vector.
FWIW I use these, if one breaks(very rare) just toss it and grab another. Can't be beat, less than $2/each if you order more than 3 includes free shipping. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4179 |

Absolutely.
Dirty fuel will kill your lighter faster than anything out there. Quote:

This is kind of like asking "what's the best cigar?" It all depends on what you like, what you can afford, and any specific needs you might have.
I like Lotus lighters -- they are relatively inexpensive and hold a lot of fuel. But there are many other good lighters. As Bob said -- make sure you use a quality fuel.

Yeah those lighters at dealsextreme are good stuff for the price. I just use Xikar butane, I suppose I could order some 5x refined vector.
If you want something nicer and reliable I've had no problems with my Xikars. They warranty everything they sell too. So I've got the exodus, trezo, an Xi cutter and the MTX scissors. |

My PB 207 with Xikar fuel is about as reliable as I can imagine.
Been in my front pocket on the motorcycle through all kinds of elements, including heavy downpours and has never missed a beat. My biggest challenge is not forgetting where I put it.

Re: whats the most reliable lighter?
Colibri, have had the same one for 5 years, never had a problem. I have never purged it, had to blow it out with compressed air or emptied the entire tank before filling. Vector fuel since I bought it, except for filling it up at herfs and events with whatever is on hand. Pretty much the easiest lighter to use and works every time.

I picked up a Siglo lighter from Cigarmony awhile back. I absolutely love it. It's not cheap, but it's been extremely reliable, and it holds a lot of fuel.

Luckily my last two lighters have been trustworthy because the 3 WalMarts around my area no longer sell them. I simply refill them when they run out of fluid....been over a year now.
