Chile Miners
First miner is out. I hope all goes well for the remaining 32. What a story of human strength and ingenuity.

Re: Chile Miners
And it went like clockwork. It is so good to see that we as humans can rise from something bad. This operation went with out a hitch, was planned out and executed perfectly, with their president there the whole time supporting them. What a feat, my hat goes off to everyone involved

Re: Chile Miners
Big props to the rescuers with the balls to go down that tube into the mine, that takes a special kind of person.

Re: Chile Miners
pretty amazing story
This weekend I heard they all want to sign a contract to ensure each share equally in the profiting from selling the story to news outlets. They requested a lawyer be brought to the medical site for each to sign as they were being evaluated. They hope by doing this none will ever have to work again. |

This whole thing is so cool, especially when the world had essentially given up on these guys. Kudos to the Chilean's for pulling off this rescue with such speed!

That cage they're bringing them up in is 21" wide. Ever see the Simpsons ep where Homer gets stuck in the water slide? That would be me...

Re: Chile Miners
Pretty cool of Oakley to donate the glasses they are wearing to protect their eyes from the sudden brightness.
They go for $450 each. In contrast, those poor guys only earn $600 a month. Glad to know this has a happy ending.

Re: Chile Miners
When I saw that, I thought to myself that they'd just have to leave my butt down there until they could widen it out. If I could fit through it, I'd freak out from the tight space. Of course, that many days below the surface, I'd probably get over it (and fit in a 21 inch tube.)

Re: Chile Miners
Now that they are all out of the mine and safe.
Now that they are all getting their just deserves with tons of money making deals. Now that one of them is trying to figure out how to get out of the mess of a mistress showing up to greet him and the wife not, and now the wife getting 50% of all his deals. Now that we can remember this tragedy with a happy ending. Just want to say this......... Man I was pissed at their president. That butt hole publicly thanked on live television, for the world to see, all of South America, country by country, naming not only by country, but also by its president. Also thanked England. You know who this a$$hole never thanked? The country that designed the equipment to drill that hole. The country that sent the experts on that equipment, to include a person stationed in Afghanistan that was flown there to monitor the drilling 24 hours a day. Yup. Thank the whole world, including radical neighbors, who did nothing, but let's not thank the greatest country in the world. If that doesn't piss you off.....well, you are much thicker than I can ever be.
