Birthday gift for my son
For my son Paul, who is 25 today.
Holds 3 cigars, 56RG x 6" Something for him to pop a few smokes in when he steps out....he usually uses a ziploc bag. Ah to be 25 again! Lousy lighting in my office....

Very nice. If that's a custom finish, I hope those bands are ones the two of you have enjoyed together.

Re: Birthday gift for my son
Thanks all....yep, we have enjoyed many of the bands there together, even a couple CC's he really enjoyed.
The box is one I picked up on a Norwegian cruise, on ship, it was a 3 pack of JdN Celebracion Torpedo's.... We're going to meet up today at a B&M for a smoke and a drink, or two...maybe 3....he's a damn good son, and I am proud of him

Re: Birthday gift for my son
If you don't mind sharing, what was the process involved with attaching the bands? That is a very nice looking travel box and I'd like to (attempt to) replicate it. You did a very nice job on it.

Re: Birthday gift for my son
Band attachment was pretty simple, I use the same product on my Slick's Trick Sticks (a draw poker that mimics a cigar)
The product is called Mod Podge, and it is the formula for paper, satin finish. I just apply a thin coat with a foam brush, apply the bands a couple at a time and let it dry, then cut the seam on the box, clean up the edges, and finally apply a thin coat of Mod Podge over the entire outer surface, and a small amount on the edges where the seam was cut to seal it. You can get it at Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics, or probably any craft shop. Make sure to get the formula for paper, the others stay sort of tacky even when dry and don't work well. Good luck! John P.S. The Slick's Trick Sticks will be coming again soon to the WTS forum...just in time for the holidays. Pics of the prototype (link below), the "commercial model" is a 40 RG x 7". The poker is high tensile steel, with spiral cuts going up and down the first 2", they cut tobacco on the way in, and on the way out. http://s638.photobucket.com/albums/u.../Draw%20Poker/
