Brazilian Cherry Humidor
Finally, after relocating to Charleston, SC.... I was able to make some sawdust today!!! I got an excellent start on this humidor, which is Jataboa (Brazilian Cherry)... this will be Brazilian Cherry throughout with minimal accents with Ebony (splines).....
Dimensions are 20" x 14" x 12" which should yield a 480 count humidor.... I'll keep ya'all posted as she goes.... thanks for all your support!

Re: Brazilian Cherry Humidor
I had a good day in the shop today..... I sand her down and applied some stain on the baseboard.... my client wanted a little contrast, but with the same wood..... I will do the same on the lid....
I then measured out and cut the splines... I went with the big fat ones on this one.... as she's a big box and.... well, just happened to have some big fat chunks of ebony laying around.... Then.... I drilled the holes for the hinges....and cut off the "lid"... or at least cut off the piece that will be glued to the lid.... Won't be long and we can call her a humidor!

Re: Brazilian Cherry Humidor
She's coming along....slowly but surly.... still working on sanding the lid.... it's a pretty good size lid and with only a 10" blade....well, left a nice ridge of some very hard Brazilian Cherry that needed (needs) to be leveled out... but, she's coming along.....
I should be able to stain the lid to match the base and assemble it tomorrow... at least that's the goal.... Then, the lining.... can't wait, as it's all downhill from there...

Re: Brazilian Cherry Humidor
By using the standard formula of 100 cigars per 700 cubic inches.. it should be right at 480... But, trays, cigar size, hydration devices....etc... will take away from that....

This evening I milled the space for the lid stay and finished sanding the lid and stained it to match the base.... I will work on the lining tomorrow and once that's done...mount the lid. Build a few trays and shine it up and she'll be on her way to Mobile, Alabama...... Still a little ways to go, but it's down hill from here.
