Wahoo, I mean "EUREKA!"
My new Gold Panning gear arrived today!
There may not BE any gold in Pond Creek at Beech Mountain, but it won't be because I didn't LOOK for it. There was some heated discussion with Dick's S.G. Online as to whether they were actually going to ship it in time for me to use it next weekend, and I flew into a OLS email rage. Someone kicked someone else in the A and now it is here. I may use this twice in my whole life, but by God I GOT the thing. |

Re: Wahoo, I mean "EUREKA!"
One of the only times I wish I lived in California. I ordered them from Dicks'
Sporting goods online. $50 bucks for a large set. 30 for a smaller kit. But I have a nephew that will need his own pan and the large set is 3 pans and a classifier screen. I am just anxious to try, gold in the creek or not. I am 48 years old and have been wanting to do it for a lifetime. Couldn't see any need to waste any more time. Plus I am headed for the Smokies in Aug, so they'll get another shot then. It is a Garrett's kit, so I am sure they sell it too. |

Re: Wahoo, I mean "EUREKA!"
I tell ya Colonel, I am out that way 3 times a year, but mostly I never get past Concord.
If i get a wild hare, i may just up and move out to either the Triangle or Goldsboro (ironically no gold there) and we can hang out all the time. I hate it here and the job pays, but not enough to suit a 48 year old. I am always a bad day away, my man. |

Re: Wahoo, I mean "EUREKA!"
No offense fellers, but there is this thing called Google, and you can get pictures of all
kinds of stuff on it, lol. There might be a smattering of gold in that creek, but I doubt it. And I only really have the right to pan in a small portion of it, so I won't be able to explore for the Mother lode II. But there are a lot of gems, including Emeralds. Problem is, emeralds don't sink to the bottom of the pan like gold, lol. On the upside, they don't sink to bedrock either. Last edited by OLS; 06-11-2010 at 08:37 PM. |
